About this Cook
Anthropology Major/Hobby Chef. Cooking and Anthropology are two vey similar persuits. I find that food is as much a way to sample a culture as learning a language or ethnic custom.
My favorite things to cook
I have enjoyed my earlier attempts at French cuisine and also have really enjoyed working with carribean flavours. I do need work on my indian and asian styles which are currently of the highest interest to me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family was quite a straight foward Canadian-Irish style of food. Few dishes came from a freezer or package, my father enjoys his time in the kitchen and installed in me a desire to work with dishes, starting from scratch.
My cooking triumphs
I have enjoyed working with West-Indie spices and other carribean flavours. PRehaps one of my biggest triumphs has been the ability to pallet some of the firey spices.
My cooking tragedies
Hahaha. Tried my hand at Ethiopen Cuisine for an amnesty international Charity dinner. I worry that my peanut stew may have lost some sympathy for the nation. :( I may reattempt it again in the future though.
