Hot Fudge Sauce

I thought the sauce was just okay, but gave it a 5 star rating so not to skew the overall score since I did not use high quality chocolate. I used 2/3 cup Toll House semisweet chips (which I normally think taste pretty good) and Nestle Condensed milk. I tasted the sauce and there was hardly any chocolate flavor at all. I kept adding more and more chips, about 3/4 of a bag and still wasn't pleased with the level of "chocolately" flavor. All I could taste was the condensed milk. I don't think I would try a condensed milk based sauce again. Not sure if a higher quality chocolate would have been any better. I prefer store bought Fran's for sure.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

I didn't think the sauce would carmelize in the oven so I boiled it on the stove with some cornstarch. It got thick but still not "gooey". I used drumsticks and basted the chicken every 10 minutes. I also thought the sauce tasted a little off so I added a tablespoon of bbq sauce and a tbsp of teriyaki sauce as well. I was still thinking the sauce wasn't very good. Until the chicken was completely done and the sauce did carmelize at the end. It ended up delicious! So, 4 stars for having to make so many changes, but it was a good start.

Garlic Chicken

When I read the recipe, i couldn't understand where the flavor came from, but since it was rated so highly, I decided to try it. I followed the recipe exactly except I used panko crumbs. I was pretty disappointed. Not a horrible dish, but there are much better ways to jazz up chicken breasts. My husband and daughter didn't want seconds.

Spinach Quiche

My favorite Quiche recipe. Works great with any filling. I omit the feta and divide the mix between two frozen crusts (Marie Callendar's is the best!)

Fluffy Pancakes

These are very good, though I found them bette and more fluffy with an extra tsp of baking powder. I also omitted the vinegar since I'm not a buttermilk fan. Great taste and much better option than boxed mixes that sometimes have off flavors.

Hugh's Dry Rub

We used this on grilled chicken legs/thighs. My husband gives it 5 stars. I thought it was bland and needed a lot of Bulls-eye on top to enjoy it. I guess it depends on your taste.

Beef Stew VI

This method of making beef stew was the most successful for me. I will never make beef stew in the crockpot again! The meat was so moist and tender, and tasty. I didn't have the seasonings at hand. Used chicken bouillon (which was a tad bit too sweet - would have been better with beef), worchestshire, a bit of soy, thyme, rosemary. I also omitted the celery. I didn't use cornstarch but had some smaller pieces of potato that overcooked and fell apart to thicken the stew. Will definitely be making this again and again. Browning the meat is a must! Aside from that, experiment with the seasonings.

Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

I do not understand the great reviews. This tastes nothing like the carne asada I had in any mexican restaurant. I used less than half of the suggested vinegar and it was still too tangy. I don't usually taste any vinegar in carne asada. Unfortunately I wasted good NY steak on this recipe and will not be making it again.

Molasses Bran Muffins

These were tasty and were not dry, but did not have a nice "muffin" texture either. They tasted like your typical lowfat muffin/cake made with little or no oil, a little gummy. If you don't mind that, this is a great recipe. Just don't expect to fool anyone who doesn't like the lowfat stuff. I had to eat the entire batch myself, but I would probably still make again for a healthy breakfast/snack.

Key West Chicken

Delicious and so easy! I used boneless chicken thighs and grilled on a gas grill. I made extra marinade for a dipping sauce. I will be making this over and over. So tasty!

Baked Mac and Cheese for One

I'm not a mac and cheese fan, but my husband and daughter love it. This recipe was super simple and made a very creamy sauce. I quadrupled the recipe, omitted the mustard and worchestshire, added seasoned ground turkey, crispy bacon bits and ritz crumbs before baking. I also used 3 types of cheese: asiago, cottage cheese, and a mexican blend. My husband said it was "so good". Thanks!

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

My husband really liked these. I thought they were pretty bland even though I added a can of minced drained clams. I would make again for a dinner party but it is not worth the effort for a regular dinner.

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

I was really disappointed after all the effort, wasted ingredients, and waiting. After I mixed up all the liquid and saw how much it was, I was hesitant to pour it all over the cake, but I did anyway. WHAT A MISTAKE. The next day it tasted like a big wet cake. Forget about it looking presentable or even frosting it. It was way too sweet too. The best part was the fresh whipped cream and the toasted coconut I put on top. I've only had tres leche cake from an american bakery, so don't know if it is the authentic version that I'm used to. That cake was not soaked through and was wonderfully light and moist. I was not prepared for such a wet cake.

Roasted Rack of Lamb

I thought the flavors were good but there were a few problems I see most people having: 1) Searing for even that short amount of time left my pan (a beautiful all-clad) blackened and my home filled with smoke. I was THIS close to setting off the smoke detector! And it didn't seem to get charred enough to help the final product. 2) I don't see how the crumbs could get crispy. Mine were just soggy. Though still tasty. Maybe dried bread crumbs would be better? My husband wants me to make it again but next time I will not sear it and I will omit the bread crumbs.
