About this Cook
I am 20 years old, I have been married for 2 years and I have a 6 year old stepdaughter and a 7 month old daughter. My pets include two gerbils, a cat, and two beagles. My husband works 11 hours a day, so I began cooking for him when he would come home. When I was a child, I used to cook and bake constantly, everyone was always having to try my new foods. When I started cooking for my husband, I realized that the flair for cooking was still there! Now he has to beg me to keep me away from the grocery store, buying new and unique ingredients for new dishes I'm making. Every night I find another excuse to make something new, constantly searching www.allrecipes.com for exciting new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook with vegetables because they give foods such color. If I cook food, it has to be PRETTY! I love sauteeing for stir frys and other dishes. Mexican has to be one of my favorite things to cook because my husband can't live without it. I enjoy pastas and meats and.. well.. I guess I enjoy cooking with everything!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
On Sunday evenings, my family and I go to my mother's house and my mother and I cook a meal for her family and my family. It gets to be a lot of fun cooking for such a large group!!
My cooking triumphs
I have never had anything I cooked turn out bad, except for one time (listed under tragedies) -- I have accomplished cooking the most outlandish of dishes, with the strangest combination of ingredients, even throwing in some of my own! And it always comes out yummy!
My cooking tragedies
I was probably 11 years old, I was baking homemade apple muffins if I remember correctly. I either was supposed to put in baking powder and put in baking soda, or visa versa, but it turned out terrible!! I was handing out the muffins to my family, and of course they ate them slowly.... Later I tasted one and found out how incredibly BITTER they were!! I was so embarassed and so apologetic. :)

White Chip Chocolate Cookies
I listened to a previous review and increased the flour to 2 1/4 cups and I halved brown and white sugar -- did 3/4C and 3/4C of each. I used one stick of unsalted butter and one stick of margarine, then added 1/2t of salt. Cooked at 10 minutes, the cookies came out rather cakey, and I like chewy cookies. Maybe baking them for less time will work better. Pulling out my last batch in three minutes.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting
This frosting was amazing. I used it for my daughter's second birthday cake (pictures posted) and it worked out amazingly. I kept the 8 cups of confectioners sugar, and split the 2 cups of crisco to one cup crisco with one cup unsalted butter (two sticks). It turned out A-MA-ZING. I will never use anything different! Thank you for making this cake a success for me!

Meat Marinade
I loooooove this marinade. Didn't have all lemon juice so I used about 1/3 lemon and 2/3 lime, and it turned out delicious! My favorite by far, I made it with the Caramelized Onion Pork Chops!
