A couple of weeks ago--before November slammed into Seattle--some dear friends invited us to an apple-pressing party at their home. They asked us to bring apples, so we raided our old tree and brought a basketful to add to the hundreds of apples headed for the press. Some, like ours, were… MORE

I must have missed the memo when January 24 was declared National Soup Swap Day. Actually, this year marked its third anniversary, so I'm really behind the curve on this one. And I'm a girl who loves her soup. In fact, a bowl of soup would be just the thing on a cold, rainy day like today, and… MORE

What do you do when you have out-of-town guests in for one day and you want to show them a good time? I solved that dilema last week when I spent a cold and sunny afternoon at Pike Place Market with friends who were in from Los Angeles and New York. But these big city folk felt a little… MORE

About Me
Two working adults and a kid in school. Someone has to cook and that someone is usually me. *sigh*
My favorite things to cook
Whatever makes my family smile while they're eating.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I cook, they clean up after me. It's the kind of tradition I can fully embrace.
My cooking triumphs
No one has asked me to stop yet.
My cooking tragedies
When I was 13, I made pecan rolls for my family. The recipe called for 8 refrigerator biscuits but the package held 10. My mom asked me what I did with the other 2. Judging from the look on her face, "I threw them away" wasn't the right answer.
