About this Cook
I am a work-at-home mom. I have a daycare in my home that I run with my MIL. I have a great husband and two beautiful sons, who are my life. My hubby and I both love to cook, and are addicted to Food Network. I am addicted to Allrecipes. Hubby is an avid BBQ'er and we are in the process of starting a BBQ catering business. We have had quite a few orders already, and seem to be becoming a hit.
My favorite things to cook
I love anything Italian. I cook a lot of pasta dishes, love to experiment with soups and I can do a mean pot roast (one of hubby's fav's). I've been getting into Asian-inspired dishes as well. Of course, I enjoy making cornbread, home-made potato salad and signature mac and cheese for the business. Breakfast is also something I love to cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family doesn't really have too many traditions in the kitchen. Hubby's side and I do get together every year to do cookies for Christmas. That's fun. My hubby and I do enjoy cooking together after church on Sunday afternoon.
My cooking triumphs
I guess my cooking triumphs is learning how to create my own recipes and timing things so they are ready at the same time. Just being able to put together delicious, healthy meals for my family.
My cooking tragedies
The biggest tragedy in the kitchen I've ever had was when I was newly married. I was making spaghetti (with a jarred sauce), and I had heard to put oil in the boiling water. I had my pot to full and the water boiled over and the oil caught fire when it hit the burner. That set off the smoke alarm. Panicking, I couldn't reach the smoke alarm, so I swatted it with my sauce covered spoon until it shut off. Then my husband walks in, and I'm standing, with tears in my eyes, in the middle of a smokey kitchen, with sauce all over the ceiling and everywhere else. To this day he tells people that I could burn water. :)

Burnt Butter Rice
Really good, but looks rather "iffy" while you're making it. Not diet food for sure, but a real nice, easy side dish.

Banana Banana Bread
This bread is yummy! I made it in a bundt pan, and I only baked it about 45min. Next time I will decrease cooking time by a few minutes and add walnuts. I will definitely use this recipe again and again. Thanks.
