I am married mother of 4, who just loves to cook. In the winter I really hit my stride and do tons of baking, but once we hit the heat of summer I usually take a break and let my hubby do the grilling. I really enjoy making new recipes and adapt them to my family. Mostly, my older kids will try new things but my younger ones are harder to please. It all just makes cooking more challenging for me.
My favorite things to cook
I really love to bake. I love baking bread, pies and cookies. Next would be making unusual dishes with tons of flavor. I love making things that look good before they are served.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I didn't really have any cooking traditions growing up, so I am trying to make my own now. One huge tradition is ever Christmas Eve, my hubby and I cook a huge dinner for both sides of our families and whoever else decides to show up. The kids really enjoy helping out with this.
My cooking triumphs
Pies...I always get rave reviews on my peanutbutter pie, my oatmeal pie and my pie crust. Crockpot dinners....I just love using the crockpot to make tender, flavorful dinners that are ready whenever my kids are ready to eat. I usually make fresh bread to go with these.
My cooking tragedies
A broccoli cheddar soup. It was horrible and I made tons of it to freeze, which quickly taught me to try a recipe before making it to freeze. I am sure my kids could list tons more...
