New Mexico Green Chile Stew

I would use a lesser cut of beef; I agree with the other reviewers, this is not authentic, but is tasty--

Annex Theater Champagne Cocktail

I drink these all the time and love them. One rater recommended a lemon twist--this is a great addition; however, try an orange twist instead--gives an entirely different taste. Yum!

Spicy Steamed Shrimp

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
Good, easy recipe. I agree that 3 oz of Old Bay is quite a lot; I cut it down to 1 oz and then kick it up a little with additional cayenne. I make my own cocktail sauce (super easy), add some sourdough bread, butter and we have a great Summer meal. I usually make this ahead of time and we take it with us when we goout on the Sacramento Delta for an overnight.

Chili Dog Casserole I

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
Easier and less messy than the traditional chili dog. I spiced up the chili with some hot sauce (Pico Pica) and used sharp cheddar cheese. Loved it.

Our Favorite Olive Beef

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
Easy for a day when you're going to be out all day. I found that rinsing the olives takes away much of the saltiness. It's a good fall-back recipe when time is short for prep and you need something when you get home.

Asian-Style Pork Chop Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
A great recipe; we grilled ours outside on the BBQ and it came out great! Reserved the marinade and cooked it down a little for extra sauce and served with rice and a green salad. Our son was visiting that day and really liked it.

Holiday Green Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
This is very similar to one my Grandmother served at ALL holiday dinners. I've made it in the past, but without the milk, and it's always turned out great.

Last Minute Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
This recipe would be good, if you remember a couple of things in cooking with mushrooms. Fresh mushrooms should be cooked at more than a medium heat or else they just steam. As for the seasoned salt, mushrooms should only be lightly seasoned AT THE END of cooking after the juices have evaporated. Adding just a dash of nutmeg can make this an outstanding dish.

Favorite Corn Bread

Great recipe! I didn't add all the sugar, just 2 tablespoons and it turned out great. Also, melted the shortening to facilitate mixing. My hubby says to save the recipe.

Lamb Shank Braised in White Wine with Rosemary

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
I make lamb shanks all the time, and this was a different "take" on one of our favorite meals. I actually put them in a crockpot with a little less wine to start. They came out beautifully moist and the meat fell off the bones. A real winner.

Great recipe and didn't overpower the fish. Would use on other types of fish as well.

Garlic Pork Chops with Black Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2006
This was a good recipe, though after reading the other reviews, I made a few changes. We did not find this too salty (maybe a previous reviewer used chicken bouillon cubes/granules (which can be very salty. After taking the chops out, I thickened the sauce a little with cornstarch. Also used less sesame oil as it goes a long way. I didn't have dried chanterelle mushrooms and substituted dried shitakes. Great served over white rice.

Spareribs and Kraut

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
Its a good basic recipes that can take tweaking. I sprinkled the ribs with some ground sage as well as the salt and pepper. Also added a bay leaf to the sauerkraut. I also baked the ribs at 350 for 1 hour before adding the vegetables and then left it at that temp for another hour. The ribs literally fell off the bones! My husband just loved it and it's now a part of our permanent recipe collection.

Linguine with White Clam Sauce I

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2006
This is a great and easy recipe. I use white wine for the extra clam juice and it give a little more flavor, I think. My husband and I use this as a quick meal when we've been out for the day and forgot to take something out of the freezer. With a tossed salad and Sourdough bread, it's a real pleaser.

This is a great recipe. I did not have shortening on hand, so used corn oil with the bacon grease---my husband raved over the taste!! We will definitely make it again.

Swedish Spareribs

Very easy to fix--there are only 2 in our household, so did cut down on ingredients. I used the extra broth and made a sauce. My husband told me that this one is a "keeper".
