These were a nice change of pace from your run-of-the-mill waffles. We really enjoyed them! Very unique, yet hearty and delicious!

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
I loved the ease of this dish, and the fact that it's a one pot meal. Good flavor, although next time I would add some more spices for extra flavor. It was still a pretty good dish, and a great weeknight go-to.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
We thought this was a really great recipe. I only had spicy brown mustard, so I used a little more brown sugar to even out the acidity. Served on homemade french rolls. This was so easy and delicious, I'm never going back to the seasoning packet again!

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
This recipe just didn't work for us, sorry. I had to omit the onions for health reasons, but followed the recipe otherwise. The tomato flavor was a little overwhelming, and I couldn't taste the garlic or cumin at all. But, it was worth a try with so many great reviews.

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
What a fabulous recipe! Tastes better than the French Bread loaves you buy in the grocery store bakery! I don't have a bread machine, so I had to proof the yeast and knead by hand, and also used all-purpose flour instead of bread flour. At first I wasn't sure, because the top was not as crispy as I usually like, but once I started eating it, I realized it was perfect as is, and now I'm sad I froze the other loaf, because I wanted more! (FYI-I froze the other loaf as dough before the second rising. To defrost, I leave on the counter, then place on a cookie sheet to rise, then bake as directed.)

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
This was not our favorite recipe, sorry. It used more brown sugar than I am used to using in a cookie, so it made it a little more bitter than I would have liked. They weren't bad, and if you like the flavor of brown sugar this recipe would work really well for you.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
I used a pork shoulder roast, and seared it on the stove before adding it to the crock pot. I used Sweet Baby Ray's Original BBQ Sauce, which was perfect. I skipped the oven step and just cooked it on high for 5 hours, shredded it, then cooked it on low another 3 hours...I'm not usually a pork person, but this was great! This will be my go-to recipe whenever pork roasts are on sale, thanks!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

My husband made these for breakfast this morning, and they were good, but a little on the dense side. That being said, I think we might try the batter for waffles next time.

Mama D's Italian Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
This bread had the most AMAZING texture--it was like something you'd find at a good Italian restaurant--crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The flavor itself was the slightest bit bland, but I was willing to overlook that since I loved the texture so much. I don't have a spray bottle, so I got a pastry brush wet, and flicked the bristles to moisten the bread every 5-10 minutes of cooking time. I think I ended up cooking this for about 20 minutes. I made 4 loaves instead of 3, and froze half of the dough between the second and third risings. This way, I just defrost the dough, set it into shape, allow to rise, and cook. Thank you for such a wonderful recipe!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
These were really good. My husband especially liked them since I added chocolate chips to his! I ended up using 4 regular sized bananas, and added maybe 1/4 tsp of vanilla to the crumb topping. Very good.

Papa Drexler's Bavarian Pretzels

These were insanely good!!! I portioned the dough into 8 pretzels, and they were still a good size. They were gone a few hours after I made them...my husband ate 4 in less than 10 minutes. I'm so glad I found this recipe!

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

These were good shrimp! I only had 1 lb. of shrimp, but kept the marinade the same and it was perfect. I didn't skewer them, but grilled them up for shrimp burritos instead.

Tasty Buns

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
These worked well as buns for our BBQ Chicken Sandwiches. Although the recipe did not specify, I had to knead the bread because it was very sticky. Very good for buns, though I would not use them as dinner rolls as they would be a bit too bland for that use.

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
I had never made pea soup before, so I was a little skeptical. But, I was very pleasantly surprised. Just the right amount of veggies, and not too thick like some pea soups. I added about a cup and a half of cooked, diced ham instead of meat from the ham hock, because there didn't seem to be much meat on there. I really loved the addition of the potatoes as well, and it was quite flavorful even though I omitted the onions. Will definitely make this again!

Michael's Foccacia Bread

I am SO glad I made this! I played around with the spices, but this was awesome. I only had 1 package of yeast, so I had to cut the recipe in half, and it was perfect. Thank you!

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
I don't have a bread machine, and the 1st time I made these I didn't read the helpful reviews on how to convert the recipe to making it by hand. Big mistake! I wanted to try these again a couple days later because I knew they would be good if I could figure out how to do it by hand. Excellent bread, and thanks to the helpful reviews I was able to make a batch of delicious rolls and soft pretzels!

Home-Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
These were pretty good...I baked instead of fried them. Shook up all the ingredients in a Ziploc with a bunch of olive oil to coat, then put them in the oven at 425 for about 30-40 minutes, turning once.

Honey Crunch Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
I really liked the honeyed pecan topping, but I kept getting little rubbery pieces of scrambled egg in the filling. I used my own crust, and next time I would probably only use 3 eggs. The flavor was very good, though.
