Salsa Guacamole

This was very good. I used already prepared guacamole for convenience, added the salsa, as well as the green onions and some cilantro. Thanks for the great recipe!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
We didn't care for the allspice/ginger combination in these pancakes. It gave it an odd aftertaste, and kept the sweetness from coming through. I will be making these again because I think the recipe has potential, but I will be decreasing the allspice/ginger, and would add some white sugar.

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
This was brothier and a little less creamy than I was hoping for. Also, I would probably use on about 3/4 lb sausage next time, as it was a little overwhelming. Otherwise, it was good.

Best Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2009
With the changes I made, this was definitely 5 star! 1.) I doubled the amount of spices. 2.) I subbed the cabbage with shredded zucchini, added some shredded green bell pepper, and green onions along with the carrots, which I sauteed a bit to soften before assembling. I also put a bit of teriyaki sauce in the veggies. 3.) Instead of the pork, I used shredded teriyaki chicken. 4.) I didn't deep fry, rather I covered the bottom of a pan in olive oil, and cooked them until brown and crispy. I served with Sweet and Sour Sauce, white rice and sesame green beans. Thanks for a wonderful basic recipe!

Flatlander Chili

This was very good. I added some corn flour to thicken it a little, and served it with fritos. next time I would add another can of beans. But, I am sure it will be even better tomorrow!

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
These were excellent! I baked them at 400 degrees on a wire rack, for 20 min flipping once. I also used panko bread crumbs for a crispy texture. The best part of this dish is the seasoning salt at the end. The people who commented that there is not enough flavor probably missed this step. Thanks for a great recipe!

Grilled Garlic Parmesan Zucchini

This was a wonderful side dish! I loved the subtle flavors of garlic and parsley, with the sweetness of the zucchini. I broiled it, but will grill it next time. Thanks angie, fabulous recipe!!!

Brownie Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
I used this for cupcakes, but it was a little thin. The taste was outstanding though, and it does thicken after sitting, so I can see why it's the perfect brownie frosting!

These were pretty good, but I thought they needed more sugar and they were a bit dense and thick.

Mom's Buttermilk Pancakes

We really enjoyed these! We added a little sugar and vanilla, but we do that with all our pancake recipes for our own taste. I didn't even need to use syrup, and my 1-year old had two whole pancakes!

Unbelievably Awesome Barbeque Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
I have never been a big fan of BBQ Chicken pizza, but this recipe changed my mind! I like the combination of BBQ Sauce and Marinara Sauce--keeps the BBQ Sauce from being overpowering. Even my 1-year old ate a whole slice!

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
This was great! I decided late in the day to make pizza for dinner, and didn't have time to make my usual crust recipe. I tried this one, and was SO happy with the results. It will probably be my new "usual" crust recipe! After I assembled my pizza before putting it in the oven, I spread a little melted butter and italian seasoning on the edge of the crust. Very tasty!

Pesto

This was a good basic pesto recipe. However, I think I would add a little salt next time to balance out the sweetness of the basil. Otherwise, it's a good base.

Insanely Amazing Jalapeno Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
I am the submitter of this recipe. 1.) Make sure to use real cheese, as the powdered stuff in the green can has a lot more sodium, and will cause the dip to be salty! 2.)If you don't like spicy, or if a lot of kids will be eating this, I would use about 2 oz. of jalapenos. If you like a little kick but not overpoweringly spicy, 4 oz is the way to go. If you can't get enough of the heat and like almost-inedibly spicy, you can try 6 oz. 3.) The best thing I have found to dip in this is sliced french or sourdough baguette. 4.)Also, if you want to use fresh jalapenos, it gives a wonderful texture. Enjoy!!!

Tartar Sauce I

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2009
I'd never had tartar sauce, so I have nothing to compare it to, but everyone loved it. My husband said it was better than what you'd find in a restaurant. I added a little dill and a TBS of ketchup per another reviewer. I would make this again!

Roasted Potatoes with Greens

This was very simple, but delicious!!! I added some fresh basil as well, just because I had some on hand. Wonderful with any kind of fresh herbs. We had this served with steak, and grilled zucchini, and this dish was my favorite part of the meal!!!

Baked Chicken Nuggets

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
These were very good, but too salty for our taste. Next time I would either half the salt or omit it entirely. There is enough flavor that you don't even need salt. Also, I double breaded the nuggets, and would NOT recommend doing that again. The breading became soggier rather than crunchier with the double layer. Otherwise, very easy, very good, and it would be easy to "hide" some shredded carrots or zucchini into the breading to satify a picky kid!
