Mimi's Smoked Salmon Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
This chowder recipe is outstanding! I would definitely recommend seeking out wild Alaska salmon, as I've found the flavor is much better than Atlantic farmed salmon (better for the environment too). BTW, like others, I added almost a cup of corn. I also thinly sliced the potatoes (1/8 inch or so) for a different presentation. Yum!

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
I was surprised by how good this dish was. I used cashews (that I ground fine) instead of the cornstarch, and I think it added depth to the flavor. The only other change I'd make next time is to use chicken breasts instead of thighs. Great recipe!

California Sherry Chicken

Excellent taste! I could have eaten four more servings by myself. I doubled the sauce, but will triple it next time since it cooks down. Yum!

French Baguettes

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
I really like the texture of this bread - it's moist, dense but not too dense, and has a good flavor. I took the advice of a previous reviewer and used an egg white wash (no yolk), since I like a crispy crust, and I poured a small amount of water on the bottom of my oven for the steam effect. Very good recipe. Thanks!

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2007
This recipe surprised me with how tasty it was. I was just looking for a way to use up the squash from my garden! I had to use canned tomatoes since my garden is only offering green maters right now. I also left out the green pepper since I don't like it. I used much less olive oil and instead used the juice from the canned tomatoes when I needed more liquid. I can't have cheese right now (and how I love fresh parmesan!), but I don't think the dish suffered at all without it. Don't worry, I got my fat grams by using full-on hot Italian PORK sausage. I highly recommend using fresh basil. Fabulous taste and easy to make with a nice zing - a keeper!

Fasoliyyeh Bi Z-Zayt (Syrian Green Beans with Olive Oil)

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
I never thought frozen green beans could taste good, but I really liked this recipe. I happen to be a garlic and cilantro fanatic, so that likely makes a difference. This is an easy, flavorful dish to make. It went over well at a potluck dinner party.

Salad with Prosciutto and Caramelized Pears and Walnuts

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
I loved this salad. I used apple instead of pear and frozen orange juice concentrate. Also, I added goat cheese like others did and can't imagine the salad without it.
