Olive Oil Dip for Italian Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Easy, quick and good. don't know if it's really like the restaurants--this is more of a balsamic salad dressing to me, but we both liked it. helped us use just a little bit more of our italian bread. thanks for the recipe1

Orange Coconut Salmon

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Pretty good. I didn't have marmalade, and bf is not a huge fan of mustard, so I made him a honey dijon sauce with a creamy honey dijon salad dressing and honey. He loved the coconut salmon bit. I liked it well enough but I guess didn't like it as much as other salmon I've had. I'll have to try again when I have marmalade. thanks for the recipe!

Cheesy Quiche Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Flaky and rich from the cheese. I was a bit leary of the amount of flour--it's not enough compared to other quiche pastry recipes, but it does work. I did add a bit more flour than called for so I could get all the butter mixed in. It definitely needs cooled before rolling out. I was impatient, so I put in the freezer for a while instead of letting cool in the fridge. I had more than enough crust for one quiche--maybe those who have had too little have larger pans? I used my regular quiche pan for this, and a regular sized pie pan would've been fine as well. I used this with the Salsa Sausage Quiche recipe on here. Thanks for the recipe!

Salsa Biscuit Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Pretty good. Extremely easy, too. I used my own dough that I had made and made about 4 little rolls. I didn't have enough bread for the salsa mix, so I froze the rest of it for later. They can get soggy when storing if you aren't careful, but they heat up just fine in the microwave. Thanks for the recipe!

Carrot Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
This wasn't too bad. Not sure what it was, but there's something about it that is weird according to bf. I didn't think it was weird, just not as tasty as I was expecting. I added more seasoning (garlic, onion powder) than called for and it still seemed to be missing something. easy and relatively quick, though. Thanks for the recipe!

Frosted Cranberries

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
Absolutely delicious. My cranberries are extremely tart, and with the sugar they taste almost like sweet and sour candies, which I love. Delish! I took the lazy way out, and mixed the cranberries with the egg and water in a bowl, then drained and mixed the sugar in the bowl with the cranberries. The sugar bunches up a bit that way but they are still pretty and taste great. thanks for the recipe!

Garlic Bread Mama Rita's Way!

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
Very good. Almost identical to the way I normally make garlic bread, minus the garlic paste (I usually just use minced garlic) and mayo. Incredibly easy, too. I used 1/2 loaf of french bread and halved the recipe. Perfect. thanks for the recipe!

Pie Crust Mix

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Extremely simple and quick. I don't have lard, so I used butter flavored shortening instead, and I only made enough for one pie crust. It worked perfectly with the Cranberry Streusel Pie I made. Thanks for the recipe!

Cranberry Streusel Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Delicious. Yes, extremely tart, but I love tart desserts. It's not a dessert for people who love really sweet stuff. The cranberries are tart and then there is a little bit of sweetness afterwards. I found it a bit difficult to mash the cranberries, so not all of them were mashed. However, it still worked just fine. The streusel is perfect, and this pie is super easy. Thanks for the recipe!

Sausage-Peach Puff Pancake

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Calling this a pancake is a bit of a misnomer in my opinion. The "pancake" part is more like a baked omelet and does taste like one. The "filling" is definitely more of a topping but after baking this I can see why the submitter called it a filling. The edges of the omelet rise up in the oven while baking, and you sort of fill in between the edges when you add the syrup. This is certainly a unique dish, I must say. I don't have pancake syrup so I used the peach syrup from the jar of peaches and added some sugar so it would thicken. I ended up overcooking it a bit and the sauce was caramelized, but it turned out fine that way. I used bacon bc all of my sausage is frozen solid, and it worked fine. If you like trying unique dishes, this one is certainly worth a second look. Thanks for the recipe.

Whole Grain Sea Salt and Garlic Croutons

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Very good. I don't have whole grain bread in the house at the moment, so I went with the bread I had, which is a homemade cornmeal molassess bread. I like crispy croutons, so I baked longer than recipe stated. I almost over baked--I baked to 15 minutes, stirred, then baked another 15, which was a bit too long. The croutons are a bit too brown but they are still good. A total of 25 minutes of baking would have gotten the crispiness I wanted. At any rate, I like the combo of salt and garlic. I'm sure it would be even better with whole grain bread. thanks for the recipe!

Croutons

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Very good croutons. I like crispier croutons than this recipe allows, so I baked longer than stated. I baked at 350 for 15 minutes, then stirred them and baked another 10 minutes. This resulted in the perfect crispiness for me. I, too, just poured the butter over already cut bread cubes and mixed with garlic powder and a bit of salt (no garlic salt in this house). Turned out great. Thanks for the recipe!

Rasta Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Lovely pasta. Very easy and turns out exceedingly well. I didn't put as much pepper in as called for--I'm not a huge fan of hot spicy. I didn't have green peppers so I used other peppers. All in all, very delicious and an easy dinner. Thanks for the recipe!

Cornmeal Molasses Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
The bread went stale pretty quickly, but that's not unusual with homemade breads. We just didn't eat it fast enough this week. It's a nice tasting bread. I decided to make croutons with it bc it was stale and it makes great croutons too. thanks for the recipe!

Orange Oatmeal Raisin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
Very nice. I left out the raisins bc of the time factor--I used my bread machine to mix and wasn't home for the fruit and nut beep. I'm sure it would be good with them, so I'll try next time. I used all oj instead of water, so I could taste a bit of orange, although it wasn't a lot or overwhelming. Nice texture and bakes up well. I baked at 50 min in a 375 degree oven. thanks for the recipe!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
This is not my favorite dip, but bf really loves it, and everyone at the party we brought it to really enjoyed it as well. I'd never made it myself but have had it at other parties. Bf promised the hostess we'd make this, so I had to go hunting for the recipe. This is the one! We kept it in the crock pot as long as possible--this really needs to be served warm in my opinion. I boiled chicken breasts instead of using canned chicken, which works very well. Bf shredded the chicken for me. Thanks for the recipe!

Cranberry Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
Very good. Incredibly simple, and very nice. A good addition to the dishes at the housewarming party we went to this afternoon. It also has the happy result of using up the remaining cranberries in my freezer from last year and using up the jam in my fridge. I didn't have apricot jam, but I did have peach, so I used that, which worked fine. I didn't have quite enough jam but it was still plenty flavorful and sweet. Everyone seemed to love the dip, and I left it there bc the hostess loved it. thanks for the recipe!

Pretty good. I wasn't so sure of these right out of hte oven, but the next day I really liked them. I didn't put the icing on--maybe I'll try that next time, but didn't want to deal with that this time. Thanks for the recipe.

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
Very good and very easy. I doubled the recipe and made two loaves and 12 muffins. The loaves took about 1 hou and 20 minutes, the muffins about 40 minutes. Turned out sweet with a bit of tartness from the cranberries. I don't taste the oj much, but it definitely complements the flavor of the cranberries. Thanks for the recipe!
