Roasted Chestnuts

I ran across this while trying to find a basic roasted chestnuts recipe for Christmas. I followed the directions, slashing the X across the fat, rounded part of the chestnuts. (I accidentally cut through two of them, but that was OK.) I put them on a cookie sheet and baked at 375 for 25 minutes. As SOON as they came out, I carefully peeled the chestnuts one by one. The chestnuts were soft. I tried one before frying in butter, and it had an interesting if not plain flavor. I only put them in butter for about 3 minutes. The butter is mostly for flavor, NOT for cooking... that is important to know! I took them out, then sprinkled them with cinnamon and salt. I did NOT re-bake since they seemed pretty much done at that point. We all ate them up with gusto. What a unique holiday treat!

Coconut Shrimp I

Unbelievably GOOD, especially with the marmalade dipping sauce. I made this for my family with home cut fries and deep fried those while I pan fried the shrimp. Deeee-LISH!

Amazing Sun-Dried Tomato Cream Sauce

I agree, adding a clove of garlic is essential. I used half & half (since I didn't have any cream on hand) and let the sun dried tomatoes sit in the heated sauce for 10 minutes before I warmed it back up & served it. Yum!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

I used top quality sirloin steak in this recipe, so the meat was good, but I didn't think the au jus that it created was very good. If I were to make it again, I'd probably use something other than the condensed soup (not sure what though).

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Its nearly perfect. I think the honey makes it a bit too sweet, so I only add a tablespoon of it, and up the oregano and cayenne pepper another 1/4 tsp to add a little more zip.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Followed the recipe as printed, except I did saute the onions in the butter. In the end, I did find it indeed a bit too sour creamy with a little too much cheese. It wasn't bad, but next time I make it, I'll take the advice of another reviewer and ease up on the cream and add a little less cheese.
