About this Cook
I grew up eating a lot of processed bland food. As an adult I now am addicted to the Food Channel and learning how to cook gourmet foods.
My favorite things to cook
I am Hawaiian so I grew up eating a lot of oriental themed foods so I really love new things now. Anything Italian has to be my favorite type of food!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I would have to say even though I love flavorful original foods now, I still can not resist some of my mothers old time recipes. My favorites would have to be her pot roast which she makes in a pot that is older than me or her "famous" hawaiian style banana bread. Nothing like good old comfort food.
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to make fried chicken! haha I have no patience in the world. Actually I would have to say my best "cooking" moment would have to be this last Thanksgiving, I actually cooked an entire "gourmet" meal by myself for my whole family. Everyone was amazed at how wonderful the food was.
My cooking tragedies
The first 25 years of my life! LOL I don't even think I could make kool-aid back than!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III
I don't know if I would call this cream cheese pound cake although its a pretty good pound cake. I couldn't really taste the cream cheese in it...When it says a heavy and dense pound cake they are not lying...This thing weighed a ton. Good flavor, although I ended up with some type of strange crunchy crust on the top, not sure where that came from. I scraped it off and the actual cake was somewhat moist although not as much as I thought it would be. I did add additional vanilla along with some lemon and almond extract. I don't think I'll make this again. It was a lot of work for something not quite as moist as I wanted it...

Scrumptious Frosted Fudgy Brownies
If you like really rich, really sweet brownies you'll love these. I thought I couldn't get enough chocolate but boy was I wrong these were decadent! Mine didn't set well but that was my fault, I baked in a smaller pan and they began to burn on the edges...I'll stick with my normal recipe...

Southern Sweet Potato Bread with Pecans
If I could give this recipe 10 stars I would..Excellent!! I did make a few changes I omitted the raisins and nutmeg..I used butter instead of oil and walnuts instead of pecans...I also added the juice of half an orange and a dash of vanilla extract....This was better than my favorite banana bread recipe...Husband took it to work and everyone wanted the recipe....the next time I make it (which will be this weekend) I'm going to make it as a muffin and add some cream cheese frosting to it...Delicious! Thank you for the great recipe! Very moist, even after sitting a day!
