I lived in the US for 39 years, and moved to a 3rd world country. I love Allrecipes, but some of the ingredients I can't get here, so I do alot of improvising. I've always loved to cook, here it is a challenge. Some other women and I created a cookbook with ingredients we could get here, we sell them and the proceeds go to help street animals. My display name comes from my faithful friend and companion, Miss Daisy, my chihauhau. She loves for me to cook and thinks I have 5 magic boxes in my kitchen--my microwave, my frige, my oven, my toaster oven, and ziplock baggies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom wasn't a very good every day cook, but for holidays she could really cook, she also made the best Christmas candy ever. When I grew up I decided I wanted to cook really good every day meals and let the holiday stuff to other people, but my mom's stuffing was the best and I've learned how to do that and always make it no matter who makes the rest of the dinner.
My cooking triumphs
Everyone loves my spaghetti and meatballs, and meatloaf, and even though I have given many people the recipes they always say it just doesn't turn out as good as mine. Another triumph was one Christmas I made Raspberry Blueberry, Rhubarb jam for everyone, my brother in laws, (all 9 of them) were astounded that I had made it they all thought I couldn't cook. One more triumph is my Taco Salad, my sister gave me a recipe for it, and told me to mix it in a bowl and put a bowl of chips next to it. I did and it looked disgusting, next time I layer everything on a tray and everyone loved it and the presentation.
My cooking tragedies
Something on the side of the Bisquick box. Things like that we like to forget about right...
