I love to cook and garden (when I'm not tired), and my goal is to make a meal where all the vegetables served came from my garden. I love trying new recipes, and my family never knows what to expect for dinner from one day to the next....frozen pizza, slow cooked homemade lasagna, or shrimp ettouffe!
My favorite things to cook
Well, I don't think you can call throwing a salad together cooking, but that's my favorite...all of the fresh ingredients filling my senses and then there's something about cutting the vegetables, etc....the pepper, avacado, onion, mushrooms..that makes me feel thoughtful and close to nature-relieves any stress from my long day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hands down..Spagetti and sauce. My husband is part Italian and his family (and the area we were originally from in RI/CT) eats a LOT of pasta...and we've adopted their eating habits..
My cooking triumphs
Hmmm...I forget a lot of the things that I throw together...but the one that stands out the most is the grilling sauce I concocted for steaks. Mix 1 part Dijon mustard with 1 part Worcester Sauce (or desired taste) and baste steaks. Grill the steaks (we have a Weber) flip, then baste the other side and grill till desired doneness...voila! The sauce is the best compliment to steaks I have ever made! I make all my steaks this way now!
My cooking tragedies
Not too many, but they all seam to involve mushrooms...and I once made an alfredo sauce that I used shredded parmesian rather than grated that didn't combine, and we had to come up with Plan B for dinner...it was horrible!
