Me and my inspiration
Taco Salad I
About this Cook
I live in Illinois with my husband of seven years and our two daughters. We have two cats too. I love cooking for friends and family. The best part about a recipe is when you see people taste it for the first time.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, because it fills the house with such wonderful smells. I am getting good at breads especially. I also like using my slow cooker. With two kids and busy days, it is a great way to have a home cooked meal with no fuss.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking my first Thanksgiving dinner for my extended family of 22. I was so proud that everything turned out delicios. The following Easter, I made the best ham I have ever tasted. It was a great slow cooker recipe that I got from this website using just brown sugar.
My cooking tragedies
During my first year of marriage I attempted home-made chili. It is my grandfather's recipe. I worked all day on the chili, and when it came time to eat it, it was terrible! I have made a huge pot of it and we ended up freezing it for a while thinking we could use it for something. We ended up throwing out all of it. I haven't made home-made chili since!

Homesteader Cornbread
This cornbread was ok, but very easy to make if you don't have yeast. I divided the sugar into half brown and half white, per someone's suggestion. I think that helped. Also it was a bit on the flour side. Other than that it was good and I will make it again.

Shredded Beef for Tacos
This makes so much that I froze half for another dinner. Very, very tasty. Wouldn't change a thing.
