I love cooking, baking, and experimenting with new foods/ingredients. I love having friends over for dinner, and truly enjoy feeding people!
My favorite things to cook
Mexican dishes, of course, but I love trying recipes from other cultures. If I go to a restaurant and eat something I really like, I go home and duplicate it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Northern Mexican cuisine is really simple, with strong flavors. Roasted peppers, beef jerky, mild cheeses. I have been combining the regional recipes with the more intricate cuisine found in the Southern region of Mexico. Ever since I moved to Pensacola, I have been compiling my family's recipes and organizing them in a book, so they can be passed on.
My cooking triumphs
Tinga de Pollo (a chicken casserole with pineapple) I even won a prize for it at a work luncheon! It's all my friends' favorite thing to have when I cook, along with some good old Guacamole... it's always a hit!
My cooking tragedies
O, Lord... trying to cook some Lemon Chicken... the recipe called for a cup of lemon juice, and I put lime juice... it was soooooo bitter, no one could eat it!
