About this Cook
I'm a stay at home wife and mom. I homeschool one of our two kids. I learned to cook myself. My mom was a great cook, but never taught me how. After getting married I realized how important a skill it is.
My favorite things to cook
Holiday meals are my favorite things to make. But I like just about any kind of cooking except grilling. I leave that to the men!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Let's see... Christmas it's always homemade peppermint patties Easter is cornish hens and coconut cake. Birthdays always get a homemade cake.
My cooking triumphs
Basically just cooking for big crowds, potlucks, holidays, and my family. I once catered lunch to a class my husband was teaching at his workplace and after it was done and everyone was fed, one very full man looked at my husband and said, "You've got a gooood woman." Lol, here in the South that says alot.
My cooking tragedies
Now, do you think I would actually admit them??

Wonderful Yogurt Cake
I baked this cake and it was a very easy recipe, it came together quickly, and the end product was moist and delicious. I did substitute white sugar for the brown, but I think it would still be good if you used brown sugar - perhaps just a bit denser. This is a recipe you could easily play around with by adding fruit blended into the yogurt or using different flavors of yogurt. I just used regular vanilla. I think next time I will try it with some cinnamon added.

Mom's Stovetop Pork Ribs
I was so looking forward to using this recipe. I shopped for all the ingredients and followed it to the letter. It smelled wonderful while cooking and it did make the meat fork-tender, which was nice. However, for some reason, it was sooo salty that we could hardly eat it! I don't know why. The only thing I could figure was it was the soy sauce. And I use alot of soy sauce in my cooking, so my family is accustomed to that taste. But this had such a salty flavor that we could not finish it. I was disappointed, especially because I had such high hopes for this one.
