Alice's Sour Cream Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
I did what MAIALE suggested and it was FANTASTIC. I loved the rich, sour cream taste that didn't overpower the chardonnay. What I would like to do next time is use spinach fettucini, simply for looks.

Garlic Broccoli

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
Really wonderful recipe for broccoli that will go in my weeknight recipe pile. I was disappointed that the original recipe didn't call for one bunch of broccoli, but instead 1.5 cups, so I had to alter it because I didn't want to throw out or save the remainder of the bunch.

Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
Had to make a healthy version, but I gave it five stars for being an excellent recipe with which to modify to healthy. I used 1/2 pound Italian-seasoned ground turkey, 6 slices turkey bacon, nearly tripled the amount of stock, and used skim milk instead of cream. It was really, super good!!!

Balsamic Roasted Pork Loin

This was pretty spectacular. I had a 1lb pork tenderloin and baked for about an hour, but didn't modify the quantity of ingredients at all. Added: 2T honey, 2 minced garlic cloves.

Sweet Mustard Chicken Bake

4 stars because this doesn't need a half stick of butter - I only used 2T. Otherwise, a great quick meal for weeknight meals! Next time I will try the breadcrumb suggestion.

Old-Fashioned Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
This was very good - the perfect non-baked rice pudding. A word to those using skim milk: adding one beaten egg into the mix will help it thicken. I also doubled the vanilla and added cinnamon according to personal preference. Many Thanks, Laura!

Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
This was fantastic! I used another's post to make the hoisin sauce, but substituted red pepper flakes for the Chinese heat - I didn't want it hot at all. Halved the sauce and it worked out just fine to coat all meat (cut up a boneless roast I had in the freezer and it turned out tender and wonderful). I also added both types of onions with 1/2 hour left of cooking so they were limp but not disintegrated.

Grilled Onion Potatoes

Really great! I baked these at 400 for an hour, but they could probably go for a bit longer. Next time I will try sprinkling on parmesan for the last few minutes.

Teriyaki Sauce

Very good! Substituted white wine vinegar for the sherry and it was still ok. Probably would cut back a smidge on the soy sauce.

Cream of Mushroom and Soy Sauce Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
I know what you're thinking: cream of mushroom soup and soy sauce? Yuck-o! But NO! After about six hours, these pork chops were absolutely delectable. Moist, fell apart in the crock pot, perfect. I think what happens is the brown sugar and the salt from the soy sauce (I used lower-salt) effectively tenderize the pork chops. Cooked slowly with the soup finishes them off (not to mention makes an awesome gravy)! Will definitely make again - thanks for a great recipe! :)

Pasta with Peas and Sausage

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
Pretty good, but I think it needed a bit more garlic...or something. I can't quite put my finger on it. I altered the recipe for health purposes and used fat free 1/2&1/2. Mostaccioli was my pasta of choice.
