About this Cook
I am 18 and have considered a career in the food industry. But I feared that taking up cooking as a profession, would take all the fun out of it. I had taken a cooking class in high school with a wonderful teacher, whom I will never forget, Mrs. Riggins. I love trying any variety of ethnic foods, my newfound favorite being Indian food.
My favorite things to cook
Anything I have the ingredients for!
My favorite family cooking traditions
A tradition our family shares on my mother's side is a dish my great grandmother brought over from Czechkloslovakia. It's not the best for you, consisting of potato dumplings, cheese, and bacon.... however, her theory was "Everything in moderation", it's not what you eat, it's the quantity. Every morning she would have one soft-boiled egg, one peice of toast, coffee, and orange juice. She lived to be 101 years old.
My cooking triumphs
One summer I baked almost everyday, and made some delicious Blueberry Muffins and Oatmeal Butterscotch cookies.
My cooking tragedies
When I was younger I accidentally added 1 and 1/4 cup of oil to a brownie mix, rather than 1/4 of a cup!

Fried Rice
I added a teaspoon of sesame oil to the wok before adding the other ingredients. This tasted alright. I think it is intended for more of a convenient way to serve kicked-up leftover rice, in which case it was pretty good.
