About this Cook
I live in Syracuse NY. I am a mother to a perfect little girl(5yr). I am currently trying to learn to cook everyday meals, not just holiday or large get-together meals. I work full-time at Upstate Hospital. My favorite thing to eat(haven't tried to make it yet) is old fashioned Tiramisu. Not the cake version's or fruity types, but the true stuff with lady fingers and mascarpone cheese. I couldn't even begin to think of how many restaurant's and bakery's I've tried Tiramisu at.
My favorite things to cook
A very big turkey or ham dinner for the holiday's. I love doing everything from the main meat entree down to the little thing's like rolls and the gravy completely from scratch. I feel so proud of myself when my family sits down to eat after I've been in the kitchen all day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Just started this year. Teaching my daughter(5yr) to cook and bake. My mother always did everything herself, so I never learned how to cook until I moved out on my own and then through trial and error. This year we just started on plain sugar cookies and homemade brownies.
My cooking triumphs
Finally perfecting my holiday turkey with a recipie from here slightly altered to my liking. I will never do turkey any other way now.
My cooking tragedies
Dropping that perfect turkey on the floor when it was completely cooked trying to put in back in the oven to brown the skin a little more. I never swear and it sounded like a trucker was in the kitchen after the turkey fell.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
The best ever. Title says it all. Will only use this 1 from now on. The dough for this is a little wetter than other's I think, but the cookies come out sooooo good, just make sure to work with chilled small sections of the dough 1 at a time, so it's easier to work with. Also as another reviewer stated parchment paper is great for the bottom of the cookies to come out perfect. I did change 1 thing, in addition to the vanilla extract, I added 1/4tsp of Almond extract. I love the taste of almonds and a little bit goes a long way.

Out of this World Turkey Brine
I will do this 1 from now on, but slightly alter it. I used a 13lb bird and brined it for 2 days. I doubled the spices except fopr the salt. I used kosher salt. It came out slightly too salty, so I'll try it with just 1 cup of salt next time.

Spicy Rapid Roast Chicken
This is the quickest way to cook a whole chx. I did mine slightly different. I put my chicken on a beer can holder than placed in a heavy duty pie dish to catch the drippings. Half of the beer went into the pie dish and the other half stayed in the can and that's what I put in the beer can holder. I rubbed my chicken down with a mixture of oive oil and Dinosaur Bar-B-Que Cajun Foreplay spice rub, it is very much the same as the spices in this recipe. Came out great.
