About this Cook
I am 27 yrs old, a black female, married, Ph.D. student, with a 2yr old + one on the way. Cooking is a stress reliever for me, but I make such a big mess in the kitchen:-)
My favorite things to cook
i love slow cooking...oh and shakes. I make pretty good jambalaya, cornbread casserole, mac and cheese, hotdogs & baked beans :-), cabbage, sauteed veggies...
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a family of bakers...but I don't care for baking.
My cooking triumphs
I have never fried anything other than an egg, because I've always been nervous about grease spatters.....buuuut... for christmas I got a cool daddy deep fryer and I'm overjoyed now!
My cooking tragedies
Omelettes

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
Tastes like my Jiffy with sugar and extra oil recipe :-). Certainly does taste good, but could have been accomplished a lot easier.

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi
Good dish. The sauce gets a A++. I loo forward to trying the sauce out on other things. Next time I will make more too, because my hubby was rather disappointed in not having seconds.

Coconut-Apple Cobbler
This was my first cobbler. It was certainly very easy. It tasted yummy too. However, I'm just wondering if something other than biscuits could have used. Anybody's varition on this ingredient would be helpful because I do plan to make it again in the future. Thanks!
