Vegetarian Quiche

Easy! & quite tasty. Love the touch of cinnamon & the curry wasn't really strong or anything. Great to use up some vegies! Had enough to fill 2 bought frozen flan cases.

Parmesan Chicken I

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
Weeeeelllll.... it was ok. I made it basically as it said but added a bit of extra water. I only cooked it on low for 4.5 hours & was way cooked. Had to turn it off actually as it was ready too early! It turned out as I expected, a gluggy rice mess. It didn't taste too bad I suppose. The chicken was nice enough but I couldn't eat the rice mush. Hubby did. So wouldn't make this again when there are better ways to do chicken.

Meatball Potato Supper

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
The idea of this was good but following the recipe pretty much but with a few extra herbs & spices in the meatballs we found it very bland. It really needed something more in with the can of soup on the top of it. The meat was fine but the rest needed spicing up. May make it again but will use different canned soup. Maybe tomato for a completely different flavour but at least it will have some!

Greek Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
We really enjoy Greek food - well Greek meats! lol Anyway I made this with a little variations - added some fresh chopped parsley to use some out of the garden, only used a bit of fennel seed that I ground. That added enough flavour. I didn't make the garlic/mayo sauce but bought a tzatzkik dip & used that on the bread rolls. Hubby loved it! Not your average hamberger (which I don't really eat) but this will be a mainstay in our recipe file for those lazy cooking nights!

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
really good! Easy too apparently! Hubby made this for our lazy Saturday night tea. Was beaut in the hot weather. Will make it again for sure. Oh & we found that if you put some cheese on the bread first & then the tomato mix & then more cheese the tomato stuff won't fall off quite so easily as it sticks to the cheese. Otherwise we were having bits fall! Darn it - was too good to miss out on!

Savory Grilled Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2007
We just love this! We have had it a number of times already & it is only the start of summer for us! I have made it a few times for guests & they all want the recipe. I have taken it with me to barbies & they want to eat my potatoes! I hate to share these! & then I have to give them the recipe too! Darn it all! But they are good! I use a large foil container like the take away food containers with the cardboard lids. They work just great on the barbie for this! Yummy... good thing I am making it again tomorrow cos now I am getting hungry!

Chicken And Apple Curry

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
This was good. It tasted just like the Mulligatawny soup I make! I love that soup so the flavour in a non-soup dish was just as yummy. Served with rice noodles it was just great! & it was easy too!

Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
This was pretty good! Mum used to make us this stuff when she was a poor single parent! (so I recently found out!) I did add a few herbs to the mince (ground beef!) mixture for a bit of a boost & used a bottled tomato relish in the mince instead of a bit of soup. I used the whole can of soup to cover it. I was surprised how tasty it was really as I expect the soup to be overpowering but it was good. We will have it again I am sure! On poor days! lol

Easy Apple Strudel

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
this was easy as anything! I was a bit worried when the brown sugar just disolved & turned juicy in the apples & then oozed out the strudel but it went quite caramely in the oven & tasted good stuck to the bottom of the pastry. Tasted great & just as good cold the next day!

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2007
This was pretty good. Quite fiddly with bowls everywhere! I did make a heck of a lot though so keep in mind to do it in a large bowl. I used a 2 litre bowl & it only just didn't spill over the edge. Next time I will halve it as I really don't need 3 cakes at once! I used the recipe from here too called Butter Frosting to ice it & it was pretty good. The guys at work sure didn't complain anyway!

Oven Fried Chicken IV

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2006
This was fabulous! I made it for 2 using only chicken drumsticks. I added the garlic, rosemary & sage to the sour cream. I only used a pinch of each because others have said it was too strong. I didn't have any cornflakes though so instead I used corn chips! & WOW! That was fabulous. I put them in a plastic bag & crushed with a rolling pin. Was a mess to smear the cream on & then load on the corn chip coating but it did stay on quite well - better than I expected. It was delicious! I think the flavour would be more interesting than the cornflake coating because the corn chips were cheese flavoured. Thanks!

Best Potatoes You'll Ever Taste

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
I love potatoes! & this was a hit. Did cube the potatoes rather than quarter. Also added parmesan on top. Cooked on a tray in the oven. Will try it in summer on the bbq though. Would be great! Very tasty. Thanks

Grilled Caribbean Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2006
We enjoyed this one. Cooked it in the George Foreman too & it came out well. Love the flavour. Not to strong & not too light. We only marinated for 2 hours & it was really good. Love the touch of ginger. Was nice & easy for a quick tasty chicken meal. (as long as you remember to marinate early enough! lol)

Streusel Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2006
We really enjoyed this. Was nearly like a dessert! Made it as is except for the pecans which we didn't have so used a muesli type of cereal that was crunchy & that was nice. Only thing we will do different to try next time is not mix the topping with the melted butter but sprinkle the ingredients on the top as is & then add some knobs of butter to the top instead. We will get a more even sprinkle that way I think. But it was good. Would be nice with a bit of shredded coconut on the top as well. We'll try that too. Think it will be a nice addition to Christmas dinner this year. Not usually something that appears at Christmas here but we'll try something new! Thanks

Fettuccine Primavera

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2006
This was easy to prepare. I didn't use the red pepper at the start. I had some frozen peas, corn & pepper packets that I used in it instead. Worked ok. But the lemon wasn't very strong. Will use more next time. Was pretty good overall & nice for a change.

Lemon Chicken Tenders

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
This was really good. Husband made it mostly. But really tasty. Only thing we would do differently next time is with the paprika, salt & pepper, it would be easier to mix it through the breadcrumbs. Shouldn't make much difference. It will save the paprika sticking all on the one sort of area on each piece of chicken though. You really need to sprinkly carefully! lol
