About this Cook
Had our daughter in March '07 :) Incidentally my husband has a god-given talent for cooking... usually on the fly... what ever he does turns out wonderfully well!
My favorite things to cook
I LOOOOOOVE baking. That said, I was very impressed by the mad cooking skills of the Top Chef contestants. The creativity and knowledge of food was very inspiring and makes me want to take classes in gourmet cuisine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom has always made "Danish Puff" for special occasions -a breakfast sweet that is heaven sent!
My cooking triumphs
I'm learning more and more all the time about cooking and creating meals. Any time I pull together a coordinated mealtime extravaganza for guests, (usually with lots of help with All Recipes) I feel it's a major triumph!
My cooking tragedies
Most of the time, I create very nice meals, but I don't quite have good cooking instincts in place yet so I usually stick pretty close to the recipe. One night I abandoned all fear, was drinking wine, singing and throwing things into the pan on the stove. I created the most magnificent glop that my husband and I couldn't eat (and lots of it)... at least I have baking instincts in spades!

Brilliant Sauteed Broccoli
We didn't care for the parmy-brown sugar combination at all. But thank you thank you thank you for such a concise description of shocking the broccoli. Knew about the technique but your clear description lead to me being able to do actually it, with gorgeous results! TY again!

Classic Lasagna
Fabulous recipe! I've used it several times now and have made it my own by using more noodles. I also use only 3 cans of tomato sauce and add 3/4 of a cup of red wine at the same time as the tomato sauce. -my favorite red wine to use is cabernet sauvignon. I cover the dish with foil for the first hour and take off the foil for the last half hour. Got rave reviews at today's family celebration. I constructed the lasagna last night, covered it with foil and put it the fridge overnight. Took it out an hour before putting it into the oven to bake today.

Taco Bake II
Marvelous! I love how you can use whole grain tortilla chips and fat free sour cream and cheese to make the recipe a bit better for you. Also, you can keep it as it is, super easy and quick, or if you have more time, you could chop up and throw in some in-season tomatoes as well. Fabby!
