About this Cook
I am really not that stressed! I work a full time job and am a mother of two school age children. I get a break from cooking on Wednesdays and we eat pizza! Almost year round, my dear husband grills our meat, so all I have to come up with are side dishes.
My favorite things to cook
My all time fave cuisine to cook is Italian. My husband loves Mexican though and enjoys eating it so much that I usually cook a Mexican meal at least once a week!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chex Mix! My dad made killer Chex Mix in a big granite roaster when I was growing up. When I got married and moved away, he gave me that roaster (I think he was hiding another one somewhere). His recipe for Chex Mix uses lard (that is how old it is lol) Now in the 21st century, I use real butter not lard when I make it. YUM, it's not just for the Holidays anymore. My kids love it for breakfast.
My cooking triumphs
I consider it a triumph when the WHOLE family loves a dish I cook. I rate my recipes and only keep one when it gets a star from each family member!
My cooking tragedies
I made pretzels once. They turned out tasting ok but they had to cook in some concoction of baking soda and water. I used my favorite iron skillet, the baking soda boiled off all the seasoning from the inside of my skillet :( There were lil black flecks all over my pretzels! Haven't tried pretzels again.

World's Best Key Lime Pie
I had this recipe years ago when I found it on a key lime juice bottle and then I lost it! I feel like I have found an old friend! Awesome is all I have to say about this pie.

Spaghetti Salad III
This salad is a great way to use up leftover cold spaghetti. I use Tuscan House Italian salad dressing by Kraft and Salad Supreme Salad Seasoning, we always make extra spaghetti so we can have this salad the next day. Wonderful cool summer supper with crusty italian bread.

Frosted Grapes
Red grapes are pretty good plain but I really liked these for a snack on a hot summer day! It does make you feel like you are eating cherries though. Wonder if grape jello would work too?? Or any flavor for that matter. I will be trying other flavors.
