Tiny Chicken Turnovers

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I thought these were okay. Husband felt they were a little too rich for dinner. My sons didn't like the cream cheese in it. I'm thinking these would work great as an appetizer for a special occasion, but not as an everyday type of meal.

I made this with a recipe I had for Salmon with soy/ginger glaze. It was a perfect, gourmet tasting meal that got rave reviews on the home front! Thanks!!

Creamy Butternut Squash With Cinnamon Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
Wow! This was absolutely devine. I had this strange craving for butternut squash soup and initially couldn't decide which recipe on here to try. I chose this one because I like cinnamon and I happened to have apple chips already on hand for the garnish. I followed the instructions exactly as written except I roasted the squash for 45 minutes as some of the other reviewers had done. I was happy that it made so much soup and thought I could reheat this for the next few days until my husband came home and ate 6 of the 8 servings. The next day for breakfast, he consumed the last remaning serving! Be sure to add the apple chips as garnish because it was excellent with the soup.

Tuna Noodle Casserole III

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
I'm going to have to say this is my new top recipe for something to make for dinner really fast without having to go to the grocery store to buy ingredients! My husband really liked this and thought I had spent a lot of time in the kitchen making it. I ended up using 1 1/2 cans of tuna, 1/2 cup milk as other reviewers had mentioned and added grated parmesean cheese to make it look(and taste) better. Thanks for the delicious recipe!

Garlic Broccoli

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
This was awesome although I didn't follow the instructions completely. First, I used the broccoli in the bag (broccoli wokly)and microwaved according to instructions on the bag, roasted some garlic in the oven, then mixed the minced garlic with the rest of the ingredients. Also, I added a splash of balsalmic vinegar. I threw it all together and had a side dish in under 5 minutes!! This really tasted great and was low-fat to boot. Thanks Domenick

Classic Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2009
I was happy with the way the base and soup turned out. My husband has a cold and requested chicken noodle soup. Instead of Campbells like I normally do in these situations, I decided to surprise him. Growing up in a family of Vegetarians, it kinda grossed me out to have to take the meat off a chicken and throw the bones and skin in with the chicken broth, but ultimately it was worth the dirty dead. I did not add the peas because it didn't sound good to me, and used only one onion instead of two as another reader suggested. Also, I added two cups more water as the soup tasted a little concentrated. This was excellent!

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
I love, love, love, love this recipe for banana bread! I cannot count the number of times family, friends and co-workers have asked me for this recipe and I have guided them to this site. The only thing different from the recipe is I substitute 1 teaspoon of white vinegar with 1/3 cup of milk for five minutes (as suggested by another reviewer) for the buttermilk.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
I'm not sure what exactly I did wrong but these cookies turned out crumbly and a little too sweet for my taste. It made me really miss the ones my mom used to make. Also, to top it all off, the next day when I went get one out of the ziploc bag, the whole thing was filled with ants! It was like some bad cookie omen or something out of a horror movie. Anyway, these just weren't for me.

Mushroom Blue Cheese Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
OMG! I can't believe how fantastic these were! I didn't change a thing in the directions, and they tasted like some kind of gourmet turkey burger that I would get at a restaurant. I felt like such an expert chef when I served this to my family with the recipe "baked french fries II".

Apple Tuna Sandwiches

Okay. I just loved this! Every once in a while I crave tuna sandwiches and this recipe with the chopped apple and the nuts was exactly what I needed. I used slivered almonds instead of the walnuts and it was fantastic.

New Year's Day Black-Eyed Peas

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
Okay, this was just fantastic and was a huge hit by my family and relatives. I made just a few changes. First, I added two cups of cooked chicken and spinach sausage to make it with less fat. Then, I used two vegetable broth cubes. I will most likely make this again because this recipe was simply wonderful!!

Not so Sloppy Joe Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
I was so excited to make this recipe because I hadn't went to the grocery store in a while and I still happened to have all the ingredients for this dish. However, the casserole was not what I expected. Also, like another reviewer, I got a bad case of heartburn one hour after eating a small portion. My son took one bite and didn't like it. My husband ate the top layer of one portion, but didn't like the bottom bisucit layer. I personally would rather have made sloppy joe's if I would have had the buns. Sorry, we just didn't like it.

Unstuffed Cabbage Dinner

My family loved this! I made a few substitutions though: To make it a bit healthier, I used ground turkey, omitted the rice and used one can diced tomatoes instead of the tomato juice.

Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2008
These sloppy joes were pretty tasty! I noticed some of the reviewers saying the mixture was too runny so I just cooked the liquid down a bit and they were perfect. Next time I make these though, I might reduce the brown sugar a bit because it seemed a little sweet. But, otherwise these were great and I will keep this recipe for future use.

Tofu and Veggies in Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
I wasen't very impressed with this recipe. I don't know if I didn't follow the directions right, but this was not so good. The sauce was thick, with the look and consistancy of brown gravy and I wasen't fond of the sweet and peanut buttery taste.

Frijoles I

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2007
I made this for my family of picky eaters and they ranted and raved. We live close to the border, so I just picked up some flour tortillas and some tostadas and and added the beans, then cheese, lettuce, and salsa. These were to die for!! I love using a recipe that tastes authentic, but does not contain lard or having to fry! Thanks a bunch

Curly Noodle Dinner

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
I was so impressed with this meal! Not only did I happen to have the ingredients, but it looked and tasted like I had spent a lot of time preparing this wonderful creation!! I did what the previous reviewer suggested and didn't add the water. Also, I used ground turkey and chicken flavored ramen noodles instead of the beef because that is what I had on hand
