I'm a married student studying journalism... and experimental cooking is both my way to destress and, at times, become stressed. I love looking at recipes and then not following them.
My favorite things to cook
banana pancakes, green veggies, stuffed mushrooms, chinese dumplings, foods with fresh dill, dairy-free pesto, baked tilapia or salmon.
My favorite family cooking traditions
On my mom's side, we're all Cantonese. Memories at my grandma's house include won tons, huge bbq ribs, fried smelt, colorful deep-fried shrimp chips, and bbq pork buns. On my dad's side we're German-Swedes. So bring out the pickled herring, limpa, lingonberries, and anything else one might find at IKEA.
My cooking triumphs
Living in Taiwan where ovens are not common. I learned to make a fairly close replica of traditional Thanksgiving dinner in my microwave and toaster oven.
My cooking tragedies
Just about every quick bread I ever try to make in my toaster oven. I'll never learn.
