About this Cook
I am a divorced mom of three small children and I am a crazy busy mom. Although time is minimal in my schedule, I always try to have at least 4 nights of quality time to cook.
My favorite things to cook
I love all foods. Now that my children are getting older (6,7,9) I am slowly trying to introduce them to new recipes. Experimenting is fun and experiencing different foods with different ethnics gives a little spin on everything and keeps eating and creating very new and never boring. The kids love to have variety and it is so easy to twist up a meal to make it seem totally different with just one or two ingredients.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite cooking traditions would have to be a French Canadian Christmas with all the traditions that surrounds it. On the other side (Irish) it would be a traditional Sunday Pot Roast with red cabbage and smashed potatoes (my grandmothers quick and yummy version of Sauerbraten). Another favorite would be a fantabulous Roast Beef dinner with homemade macaroni and cheese with yummy homemade gravy slathered on top (don't knock it till you've tried it) and great family to share your delicious efforts ALWAYS makes everything so much more perfect.
My cooking triumphs
My cooking triumphs.....anyone who has ever tasted my traditional cooking or has tasted any of my crazy creations and screams it's the best thing they have ever tasted...that is triumphant!
My cooking tragedies
A couple of years ago I was making this outrageous huge delicious stuffed striped bass and I went to throw a cold water and wine mixture into a very hot pyrex dish that was in the oven and the whole dish shattered into a gazillion pieces. Can we say Chinese take out for 10? Definitely was a killjoy night.
