Red Beans and Rice
Sort of blah and bland as written, which, considering I have to cook for my grandparents as well is what I was looking for. I add a teensy bit of cayenne just so it's not totally bland to my taste and two or three cloves of garlic. It's not "authentic New Orleans red beans & rice" but that's not what I was looking for. This recipe is an excellent base for cooking for a wide range of spice sensitivities, and easily adapted to be healthier with the substitution of chicken or turkey sausage.
