I grew up cooking with my Grandmother, like many people, but it was a little different for me as my Grandmother was one of the first female Chefs in the United States. She was a true artist. Many times we would start cooking and not know what it is we are making until Voila! Something fabulous emerged. She taught me the science and the beauty of cooking. Cooking is my stress relief. If I had a hard day you just may come home to a seven course meal. Sometimes I get carried away. It is only me and my husband, but I often cook enough for an Army!
My favorite things to cook
Pretty foods like: French silk merangue cake, secret seasoned steaks, quiches, custards, and anything with lots of cheeses and/or fillings
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our annual Christmas cookie bake off, every year my mother, sisters, and I spend a whole day baking dozens of varieties of cookies to last us through the holiday season.
My cooking tragedies
I just can't bake homemade breads. I give up.
