I made this for 4th of July last year and everyone loved it. Fresh and yummy. This is going to be standard summer fare in our house.

Great recipe especially in terms of ease and overall taste. You can't go wrong with this one. Even my 4-yr old twins ate it!

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
I made some of the adjustments recommended, but this cake did not deliver for all the time and effort involved. It lacked the classic tiramisu flavor and texture. I won't be making this one again.

I thought this was good and a healthy sweet treat. The kids were not fans which surprised me. I thought they would have gobbled it up.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
The best ginger cookies I've ever made. I made a single batch and used a large cookie scoop dropping the dough directly into the sugar. Made about 28 large cookies. They turned out great. A new holiday favorite!

Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
Gingerbread wouldn't be my first choice but this could easily change my mind. I doubled the spices as suggested, used orange juice instead of water, and added the applesauce. It was great. I've already made it twice and will make it again.

Cherry Pound Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
I made this for the first time to serve to guests of Ronald McDonald House for Christmas. I made a double batch and every piece was gone. I used a 10oz. jar of cherries for each cake, drained overnight, dredged in flour, and added whole into the batter. I thought the mixer would crush them up but was pleasantly surprised that they remained whole. It was so pretty when cut to see entire cherries cut through each slice. I even made a quick icing of powdered sugar, cherry juice, milk, and vanilla and then drizzled it over the top and put the rest in a squeeze bottle. Everyone loved it. I am making this again!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
I made this for the first time for a dinner party for 30. It was fantastic!! I prepped all the chicken the day before and used the butcher twine as suggested. On the day of the party, I dipped the chicken in bread crumbs and browned it in a skillet and then placed in a 9x13 to finish in the oven for about 20 minutes. I used what was left in the skillet and added the other stuff for the sauce. I used Root Cabernet Sauvignon wine. It was delicious!! I highly suggest using a meat thermometer because when I cut my first chicken open I was really worried that it was pink but everyone else said it was from the ham. Delicious. I can't wait to make this again!

Carrot-Sweet Potato Mash

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
I made this for a dinner party. I served chicken cordon bleu II (from this site) and this along with wild rice and plain broccoli. This recipe was a hit. It was easy to do ahead of time and then reheat in a casserole dish in the oven. It is slighly sweet and balanced the sauce from the chicken. Yum! This one is a new family favorite!

Basic Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
My husband likes bean soup so I made this to have on these cold winter days. I had to double the cooking time even after soaking the beans overnight. The soup was incredibly flavorless. We've had great luck with recipes from allrecipes.com but this one was a total bust!

Lemon Poppy Seed Amish Friendship Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
This bread was spongy. I didn't like the texture but the flavor was good. I'll try it again though because I mistakenly dumped all the ingredients in the bowl and mixed, which I discovered too late were not the way to make this bread.
