Gramma's Old Fashioned Chili Mac

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
This was ok. I followed the recipe pretty much, but added some tomato sauce for some flavor, along with some chili powder. DH said it was bland. I like my version on the the Fat Free Vegan Kitchen blog much better. Has greens and more spice. Probably wouldn't make this again.

Cathy's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
This was so moist. MOIST MOIST MOIST. Its still perfect 1.5 days later.Usedd 1/2 + 1/3 c white sugar and 1/2 c brown sugar. Added 2/3c chopped walnuts and used 3 large bananas. Everyone seemed to love it and it came out perfect in a glass 9x13 pyrex pan. Used someone else's suggestion and layed a piece of foil on top (just layed not wrapped) when it had about 28 mins left. this way the top stayed perfect! It did not get brown and hard. Will definitely make this again!!!!

This was easy and great. Left out the parsley because I didn't have any. Marinaded chicken overnight and then threw it on the grill. Will make this again.

Moroccan Lamb with Shiraz Honey Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Husband liked this very much. Didn't have shiraz so used Merlot. Didn't have the spice at my supermarket so I used this recipe from myrecipes.com: 2 teaspoons ground ginger 2 teaspoons ground coriander 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper 1 1/2 teaspoons ground turmeric 1 1/4 teaspoons ground nutmeg 1 teaspoon ground allspice 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves Makes about 3.5 TBSP. Left out coriander because DH doesn't like it. This was one to impress dinner guests. Will make again.

Italian Turkey Cutlets

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
This was easy to throw together on a weeknight. Turkey cutlets only come pre-packaged in my supermarket so this one is hard to make with only my husband eating. Would make again if I had more than one person eating.

Marinated Scallops Wrapped in Bacon

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Followed recipe exactly except used whole strips of bacon and left scallops whole. Got THICK slices of preservative-free bacon fresh at the deli counter. Husband and in-laws loved it! (served it as part of main course, but really should be an appetizer) Even asked for me to get more bacon since it was so much better than the stuff in the package. You can control the thickness if they slice it for you. WILL be making this again.

Tangy Sirloin Strips

This was really good. Didn't have any lemon pepper so I just used a tad of lemon juice. Used agave instead of molasses because I didn't have any of that either. Was a hit at the bbq. Will make this again.

Veal Scallopini

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Not bad for a thin breading. Might try egging and breading a 2nd time then next time I make it. Veal cooks very fast so be sure not to overcook! It gets rubbery. Will make this again.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Used Kahlua and mini choc chips. Neighbors all loved it and one of them took the rest home. Her college-aged daughter shared it with her friends at school. This one is a keeper and I will be making it again. Used a bundt pan and made sure to grease and flour so it didn't stick. Might try using cocoa powder so you don't see the flour. Put powdered sugar on top as seen in the pic. Might try making the satuny glaze from this site as it was a it on another chocolate cake. Will make this again.

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Made 1/2 recipe and it was more than enough for one crust. Also used oreo crust and sprinkled oreo crumbs on top. My husband said some crumbled peanut butter cups in the filling would have made it better, but only if you love PB flavor. Its good but not an overwhelming PB taste. Others said they added more PB but I wanted to make it as is the first time. Def will make this again, probably in single serve cups. EDIT: made again and added crushed PB cups to the inside. This was a REAL crowd pleaser. My neighbors were infatuated with this pie. DH loved it too.
