About this Cook
I am a music teacher and I love food. I am a vegan with a meat loving boyfriend so I am learning to cook without tasting anything. its hard sometimes let me tell you.
My favorite things to cook
baked goods. vegetables.
My favorite family cooking traditions
pork chops with vegetables in cream of mushroom soup. My mom makes the BEST rum cake. She also does a pretty mean calzone.
My cooking triumphs
I am really getting there with teh vegan baking (plus wheat and sugar free)
My cooking tragedies
I love carob, but cant get the taste of it right in ANYTHING!

Gramma's Old Fashioned Chili Mac
This was ok. I followed the recipe pretty much, but added some tomato sauce for some flavor, along with some chili powder. DH said it was bland. I like my version on the the Fat Free Vegan Kitchen blog much better. Has greens and more spice. Probably wouldn't make this again.

Cathy's Banana Bread
This was so moist. MOIST MOIST MOIST. Its still perfect 1.5 days later.Usedd 1/2 + 1/3 c white sugar and 1/2 c brown sugar. Added 2/3c chopped walnuts and used 3 large bananas. Everyone seemed to love it and it came out perfect in a glass 9x13 pyrex pan. Used someone else's suggestion and layed a piece of foil on top (just layed not wrapped) when it had about 28 mins left. this way the top stayed perfect! It did not get brown and hard. Will definitely make this again!!!!
