Apple Cider Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
Followed the recipe except that I added an additional heaping TBSP of Brown Sugar just b/c we love BS sooo much. Very fragrant while cooking and very tasty eating. My batter was a bit lumpy when I used the complete pancake mix. I want to avoid that next time, so I will make my own mix from scratch and see if that helps. I would definitely make this again and put it on on pancake rotation.

Easy Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2007
I changed the recipe a bit b/c of the reviews. I used 2 cups chicken broth PLUS 1 extra cup of milk. I did this because I was using Long Grain Rice. Using this rice made the cook time to almost 2 hours! Wouldn't do that again. I added 3 cups frozen brocolli spears, 1 package dry onion soup mix and topped with crackermeal crumbs. The rice was very tasty, especially with the brocolli but the chicken was too plain. Everyone loved the rice but found the chicken boring. This is a great recipe to sneak in ground flax seed. Cannot taste any difference but gives you the added Omega & Fiber benefits.

Cheesy Polenta

Reviewed: May 23, 2007
SO Easy & my first polenta! Just made it tonite to go with my chili. I accidently added the whole bag (8oz) of sharp cheddar cheese. It did not seem to make any difference in texture or taste. This cooked in 5 Minutes or less for me. I felt like it was missing something...some spice perhaps? I ended up coating it in cracker crumbs and did a quick pan fry, then served the chili over it. My husband said I should make it each time I make chili. 3 stars on taste as it is but giving it a 4 on potential.

Super easy and very good. The pudding mix is the only way to go. I will never make cookies without the pudding again.

Cocktail Meatballs I

Reviewed: May 17, 2007
I have made this many times and it is a big hit each time. I double the recipe everytime because there are never enough. I bake them in the oven for approx. 30+/- minutes at 325. I then slowly simmer in sauce for an hour or so before gathering. You really cannot mess these up.

Amy's Lavender Lemonade

Reviewed: May 17, 2007
I would use less Lavender next time as it was a little too strong. Otherwise I could appreciate the change of flavor. Also, I tried it with Crystal Light Lemonade, next time I will try homemade.

Sauteed Cherry Tomatoes with Garlic and Basil

Easy and great. Fresh basil makes all the difference. I will make this weekly as a side dish. SO simple cannot believe I didn't think of it.

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: May 17, 2007
Too easy and Too good! I used 1 bag of Fresh Spinach used and a bag of italian shredded mixed cheeses (Mozz, Prov, Asiago) b/c some people said not a whole lot of flavor with just the Mozzarella. I added a lil olive oil, 2 Tablesppons garlic & 1 Tablespoon Janes Crazy mixed up salt. My guests and husband ate the whole thing and I made another batch. BUT on my second batch I added crumbled bacon (approx. 1 1/2- 2 cups) And it was FANTASTIC. There is a lot of butter in this as you will see when you take it out of the oven. I will try to cut it down next time. I will make this from now on at least a few times a month. Flavors come out when warm/hot not so much when cold. It is A+

Bacon Crackers

Reviewed: May 17, 2007
I burned it ...even though I was warned in the comments. The one I did taste that wasn't burned had good flavor but was a bit too dry. I may try this again but not sure I want to watch something so closely when I am entertaining.

Baked Cheddar Bacon Spread

Reviewed: May 17, 2007
This was a very easy and tasty spread. I made this for a home sales party. I will make this again definitely and would not make any changes. It does make a large amount. I preferred this MUCH more on a club cracker and just LOVED it on the Town House Cornbread crackers (so did everyone else)rather than artisan bread. The textures didn't seem right together. Enjoy!

Great Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2007
Just made it. I followed the recipe and kept in mind what the other reviews said about cook time and adding more milk. I actually cooked it in 20-30 minutes and with the exact amount of milk. I chose to cook it slowly and watch the temperature to insure the right texture (I tend to burn milk easily). My only difference is that I doubled the recipe. If the pasta is sucking up alot of milk you may be using the wrong pasta. Make sure it is elbows or like. Also, I used already shredded melting cheese from Kraft. I did not have a grainy consistency. I thought this was tasty and easy. I would make this again without hesitation.

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2006
Really is great tasting! Fun too. I do suggest fresh sliced strawberries for a much nicer look (maybe even lightly blanched). The frozen berries taste great but do not look good. The are very dark and mushy looking in the jello. I served this at a 4th of July Party and was a little embarrassed at the look of the berries. Bring recipe cards to give to people because they will ask for the recipe.

Dad's Steak Rub

I have to say for such a simple recipe that this really is great! The syrup makes the seasonings stick and lightly carmelizes the meat. Personally we will never make steak again without the Maple Syrup first.

Deni's Strawberry Cheese Pie

Reviewed: May 20, 2006
We really enjoyed the great flavor of this pie. Very easy to make. I will definetly make again! I did cut back on the lemon juice as suggested but my pie was still a bit soft, so next time I will add a bit more cream cheese. Also, my strawberries were a bit tart so I cooked them briefly in Maple Syrup/Sugar & water. I drained the strawberries and reduced the remaining juice until I had syrup. I drizzled the syrup around each dessert plate for fun!

Fun Taco Cups

Reviewed: May 17, 2006
Easy, Quick, Fun, Tasty! I made it for dinner with a side salad. Taco Bell taco seasoning is definitely better than other choices and I suggest using a large Grands type biscuit. Otherwise, you will need to combine two biscuits and they can get a little tough.

Orange Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2006
Remarkably easy to make and extremely tasty. I tried this as a last minute, something a little different from the usual recipe. The whole house smelled great. We couldn't wait to eat! It took longer than the 1 hour stated on recipe but i just watched the pop-up timer. The pan juice and drippings made the best gravy I have made yet. You can't go wrong with this one.

Sunny Orange French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2006
I really disliked this recipe. My family thought it was just ok. I thought it was way to crispy outside and way too mushy inside. I tried cooking them for different lengths thinking it would help. It did not. I kept adding more butter and syrup to make it more palitable. This sounded great but was very disappointing.
