A thankful Christian, avid musician, a proud U.S. Army soldier, and Registered Nurse married to a WONDERFUL husband who supports me 100%. God is good! I love to grill on the barbecue (charcoal is always better, in my opinion). I enjoy cooking Mexican, American, and am always trying to make my recipes heart-healthy. Thanksgiving is always a HUGE event! My favorite part of the meal is the Southern Sweet Potato Souffle ... excellent! My Grandmother and Mom would let me experiment in the kitchen since I was 7 years old. It started off with the traditional cookies and brownies, and since then has evolved into a love for making all sorts of recipes! My husband absolutely loves my cooking! And my Dad always asks me to give my recipes to my Mom when they visit ... what better compliments than these? Certain types of brownies do NOT turn out well for me, regardless of my tweaking with the recipe and my oven. However, being military I've moved around a lot, and so I get to work with many ovens that are not my own. I used to have an excellent recipe for fudge, but I tried to make it when I first moved to El Paso and it completely flopped! Must be the dry heat ...
