I'm a married mom with one daughter age 9 months who loves to bake, knit, write, draw, and play with my daughter. I work in a coffee shop and have a passion for coffee and tea. My husband paints for a living and we love living in the city of Pittsburgh, which has so much life to it.
My favorite things to cook
Anything vegetarian, pumpkin, cinnamon, or otherwise sweet. I enjoy baking various cookies, cakes, breads, and pies. I also like to convert typically meat related foods into vegetarian and vegan dishes. I love baking more than cooking although I do enjoy preparing from scratch meals for my family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pumpkin cake, holiday nutrolls, stuffed cabbage, lasagna, Asian stir fry, rolls, specialty breads, and Indian foods are some of the traditions both established in my new family and carried down from both Ken and I's families.
My cooking triumphs
A flawless and always delicious Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Cake is my claim to fame. I make one for every Thanksgiving. I also have another desert for which I am known and that is a delicious and decadent Chocolate Raspberry Torte. I once made a delicious berry pie off of no recipe and it was delicious.
My cooking tragedies
I was aiming to impress my co-workers and outbake my rival at a company holiday party. I attempted to make a cinnamon coffe chocolate cake. Somewhere (and I'm still not sure, although I blame my choice in coffee) I went awry and the cake turned out super dry and not very good. It cost a lot to make and by the end of the event I had a good 3/4 of the cake left. Very dissapointed.
