Whit's Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I only gave these 4 stars due to the fact I changed so much. I used corn tortillas, didn't have cream cheese so I used a can of cream of chicken soup and a spoonful of sour cream. I used garlic powder. I think they are made great because of the heavy cream that is poured on top; that makes any enchilada type dish extraordinary.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
WOW WOW WOW! These are THE BEST brownies I've ever made! And oh so easy to make! I had to bake approx 60 minutes until the toothpick came out *semi* clear. These brownies have a gooie center, and crispie shell. And if you're like me and think the sides are the BEST part, well, this brownie is PERFECT for YOU! They are great for topping with ice cream! These would also be great with peanut butter chips instead of the semisweet chocolate chips. Thanks, Brooke! I'm keeping this recipe! :-)

Herbed Sweet 'n' Sour Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
I love love this recipe! To get the chicken more flavorful I cut it up in bite size chunks before I put it in the oven. I always double or triple the sauce just because I like it with rice by itself. My whole family love loves this recipe!! We've done it w/o thyme and it tastes just fine. I wouldn't say this is sweet n sour chicken but regardless of the name it's oh so good!!

Best Brownies

Good recipe for a brownie made from scratch. I doubled the recipe and put in 9x13. Very moist in inside. Did NOT make icing...was very good by itself. Baked for around 50 minutes. Can add peanut butter chips for a different taste.

Thai Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
I liked this, hubby did not. He doesn't care for really salty foods...and I love them. I tripled the sauce which could explain WHY it was so salty (9 tblspoons of soy sauce). I used rice vinegar. Brown rice. I will probably not make this again. Thank You!!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
I doubled the recipe but got more than 24. My hubby didn't like them but my kids did. I thought they were okay, but I think the choc chips is what makes them that way. The only change I made was I used 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 white flour. I don't think I'll make these again, there are other muffin recipes I like better. Sorry.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
First let me say I have never had a scone before, I've only seen them. ;) I LOVE these. I didn't make any changes, but I did separate into to batches and added raisins in one and milk choc chips in the other. I liked the raisins best but my kids, of course, liked the choc chips better. When adding the sour crm mx & egg into the flour it was VERY dry...so dry I thought I left something out. BUT, when I took it out of the bowl (after adding the raisins/choc chips to the mix) and kneaded it by hand it moistened up. I got more than 12 servings from mine. Oh, I also used half whole wheat flour and half white flour. My brother said they were BETTER than scones you buy at the store!! I will keep this recipe and make them again and again! THANK YOU!!

Ultimate Frozen Strawberry Margarita

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
I have tried making other straw marg from other recipes here on this site as well as with mixes and can never find one that I like...and I like margaritas!! THIS ONE however, tastes like one at a mexican restaurant. I LOVE IT. The only thing I did different was I only had whole frozen strawberries and I added a little sugar in the blender with it... Hubby said I added too much sugar, I thought it was just right...I added about 1/4 cup. I will definitely keep this recipe. THANK YOU!!

No Bake Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
These were okay; not very sweet at all; kind of bland. I would rec upping the sugar and reducing the oats...maybe even add another tsp of vanilla for more flavor. Sorry, I will stick to my usual no bake cookie recipe.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
These came out nice and seemed to be very forgiving on the cooking time. I baked mine for 8 min and they came out perfect. They have a nice flavor but I might try the vanilla extract next time instead of almond. The dough was very hard to work with to begin with (sticky and hard) but once I repeatedly rolled it out and cut it softened up nicely. I will say you will need alot of extra flour but I think that's with most cut-out cookie recipes. Thanks for sharing!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
First off, look at the serving size...it's only for 12 so don't make the mistake I did and only make 1 batch! I made 3 batches and it covered (and decorated) my cut outs (I used the recipe from this site called THE BEST ROLLED SUGAR COOKIES). IMO this was VERY hard to work with and was very sticky. I had to keep adding corn syrup to make it thin enough. It would be best to add some extra milk before adding the corn syrup... I tried 'painting' on the icing with a brush, smearing on with a spatula, tried my fingers, tried dipping... Even after thinning several times with the syrup, it's still very thick I will say it dries very nicely and is nice to decorate with. Not sure if I'll use this one again...

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
My family thought this was very good! The only thing I did different is I used teriyaki flavored chicken and put Hoisin sauce on top. Hubby loved it. I didn't think it was salty at all; neither did hubby and he hates salty food. I will make this one again. Thanks!

Easy Broccoli Quiche

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
I have never attempted to make a quiche before and this turned out awesome! I only used 1 head of broccoli and it turned out great. I also didn't have any mozzarella cheese so I just used sharp cheddar. Oh, I also used red onion. It had a GREAT flavor although hubby said it was a little watery?? I might try decreasing the milk a tad... Also, after sauteeing I didn't have enough butter left in the pan to pour into the quiche...I must have done something wrong?? It turned out great and I plan to make this again and again...

Easy Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
This is a GREAT basic recipe. I only gave it 4 stars as to me it was more of a egg casserole than a quiche. Per other reviewers I added sauteed onions and mushrooms and also sauteed 1/2 of the ham as well. Added sprinkle of tastefully simple's Garlic Garlic and dash of salt/ppr. I only had pancake mix instead of bisquick (couldn't tell the difference) and used 1 cup of that. Added another egg. Also added sprinkle of ground mustard powder. Took this to my MOPS group and there was only enough left for me for lunch. I will make this again...thanks for sharing!

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
I took these to my MOPS mtg and I have to say, they weren't a big hit. I myself on the other hand thought they were good; although I don't know if I would serve them up for breakfast if the fam came in town. I do absolutely recommend DOUBLING THE HAM...I used 16 oz diced ham and I think it could have used a bit more. I also used the hash browns with onions and green/red peppers. Did not add the Parmesan on top as I did not have any. Good creamy consistency, but I think it's more of a side dish than a main dish.

Michelle's Peanut Butter Marbled Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
These brownies are THE ABSOLUTE BEST! Took to my MOPS mtg and they got rave reviews! I didn't change a thing except use mini chocolate chips and had to bake an extra 12 minutes. My mixture was a bit thick and I had to just drop dollops on top of the peanut butter mixture and "spread" with my finger...there was no 'swirling' about it. Regardless, these were the BEST brownies I have had. I think tonight I'll warm one up in the microwave and top with some vanilla ice cream! YUMMMM!

Cowboy Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
I know I'm going against the flow here, but hubby and I didn't like these. They were very flat and with all that sugar in it they STILL didn't taste very good. I even added chocolate chips after the 1st batch were done and the choc chips didn't add anything. Now my 4 and 6 year old boys ate them but they will eat just about anything. I won't be making these again. Sorry.
