About this Cook
Married, no kids. Love being in the kitchen, but can be kind of a control freak!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, but preparing meals for my husband is my favorite; especially since he'll try anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I loved watching my Mom & Dad in the kitchen together, when I was growing up. They always argued about how taught who the basics of being in the kitchen. We always sat down together as a family for evening dinners.
My cooking triumphs
Every time a friend asks me for a recipe!
My cooking tragedies
I'm sure there have been many, not one specific one comes to mind...

Popovers
this recipe is right out of Betty Crocker, and it is good as is. However, it is much, much tastier if you put 1/2 tsp of lard/bacon grease in each cup and put in 450 degree oven to preheat. When fat begins to smoke, take them out, pouring batter into each cup. Place back in oven and bake for 20 minutes. This tip eliminates the need to continue cooking at 325 for an additional 20 minutes and yields a much richer flavor.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV
I scaled this down to serve 4 (we're a family of 2 + toddler) and it was not enough! Next time I will half the recipe. I also used beef broth instead of water. Served with fresh french bread and it was excellent. Will definitely make again. Great winter stew recipe.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast
I always have made my pot roasts with dry onion soup mix, but usually I would cook it in in a Dutch Oven, covered. By cooking it in the slow cooker, the meat was so incredibly tender it literally melted in my mouth. Delicious!! And from now on I will be making my chuck roasts in the crock pot! Yum!
