I am from the Southern part of India.I started cooking from my high school.I developed a liking to it when i did my grad .in Home Science.I love to cook for my family and friends .they always seem to like and appreciate it which has made me more confident about my cooking.Over the years i ve improved and made my cooking more healthy by using less oil.i ve been lucky to ve travelled to many lovely countries in south east asia and most of euorope.i ve a varied taste and I love to try new cuisines .
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook Mughlai briyani's,puloa's,baking especially cakes and cookies.I love to make south Indian traditional varieties for our festivals/functions.since I live a place like dubai I ve been lucky to taste food from different countries.out of which my favourite is middle eastern cooking(lebanese/arabic/iranian) and thai for its flavourful and spicy cuisine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We at home eat very simple, healthy food which includes more of indian green veges.its spicy .i constantly keep making different vegetarian preparations since i get bored cooking the same stuff again and agian. We eat mostly rice and vegtables which i try to cook differently.
My cooking triumphs
It would be baking.since we never had an oven when i was young i always was fasinated by the aroma of fresh baked goodies.at college we had a cookery lab which had such appliances .we baked cookies and cakes in them.my dad seeing my interest presented my first ever OTG in which i have tried and made some lovely stuff.I ve constantly tried to bake/make cakes/cookies without using eggs since my husband is a vegetarian.he likes anything sweet so i am careful not to use eggs in the food i make for him. Also i can make lovely puloa's using any available vegetable and rice.
My cooking tragedies
It would again be baking.since the time I started baking there have been innumerable tragedies right from over baked, dry cakes to half baked cookies.now after 10 yrs of trying i can say with pride that i ve somehow managed to perfect baking with minimal tragedies!!!
