About this Cook
I'm a country girl at heart, but I love culture: music, plays, dance, etc. I love the Lord who influences my life alot. I try to eat healthy but love food, so I try to make what I eat healthy and satisfying. I am happily married and have one son who keeps me busy.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook ethnic dishes. When watching the movie Bend it Like Beckham(sp?) I discoverd a recipe for Aloo Gobi (Cooked Cauliflower). Of course it is much more than that. I tried it and it has now become one of my favorite dishes to make.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up going back and forth between my parents, so I picked up cooking styles from both. I love my mom's spaghetti and am constantly trying to recreate her spaghetti sauce. I learned to make things easy with my dad, so I like to find shortcuts.
My cooking triumphs
When I was in high school, I orgnaized a Mexican night for our church. Along with a couple other girls, I made 50+ chile rellanos and then taco meat and rice and beans. The dinner was a hit and helped us raise funds for a mission trip.
My cooking tragedies
My family didn't like to let anything go to waste, so we ate leftovers regularly. One night I searched the fridge for leftovers and came across leftover spaghetti and brocolli. I heated them in the microwave and put them on the table only to discover that both dishes had begun to grow mold. I have since leanred to regularly pitch leftovers.

Garlic Carrots
Great recipe! Of course I tweaked it for my family, but it was a hit. I followed the carrot part, but added some Aidel's chicken & apple sausages and served with seasoned rice. Even my picky eaters liked it.

Curried Zucchini Soup
This soup was delicious. I added dumplings making it one of my children's favorites. I will have to freeze zucchini so I can make it this winter.

Best Peanut Sauce
I like this recipe because it provides a great jumping off point. You can add a little of this and a little of that to suit your tastebuds. Me, I like ginger and coconut milk. Have fun with it.
