I just graduated from college and work as an editor for a publishing house. One of my new favorite things to do (besides knitting and crocheting) is cooking! It's such a useful skill to have, and is actually quite relaxing. I love to tinker in the kitchen and am often trying out new recipes and innovating old favourites. =)
My favorite things to cook
Bread, cookies, and... dinner! =D
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday times always find our table so full of delicious things that I want to follow the same tradition when I have a place and a family of my own.
My cooking triumphs
I once made a full-fledged Colonial-period recipe (from Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia) chocolate cake from scratch. That was a few years ago, but to this day, I still consider that my cooking opus.
My cooking tragedies
There have been a few, such as failed fudge, desert-dry cakes, rock-hard cookies, and dishes that I've accidentally added way too much salt to. But you know, none have ever been too disasterous, and you learn a little more each time. =)
