About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love foods with bold, exotic flavors. I like experimenting with colorful veggies, whole grains and wild fish! I also love to bake cakes, cookies and muffins to share with my friends and family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year on Labor Day my parents host a huge party complete with several barbequed turkeys. My sisters, grandmothers and parents and I prepare the birds and stuff them with sage, celery, garlic etc. I love prepping the birds with them!
My cooking triumphs
Perfecting my Uncle's Peanut Butter cake and Judy's Petite 10 Layer Chocolate cake. My favorite flavorful dish to cook is Tempeh Ratatouille.
My cooking tragedies
Once I tried to make traditional hungarian goulash and had the heat up too high... I used smoked paprika and kept admiring the "smoky aroma" emitting from the stove. Little did I know that the aroma was the goulash actually burning and fusing to the bottom of the pan! Happily, I was able to salvage some of the goop and create a different kind of stew.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce
This is a fantastic recipe! I used Middle Eastern yogurt as a base for the sauce and I oven-fried the patties as suggested in other reviews. Other than that I made no changes. My dad, who was a falafel virgin, LOVED these. I will definitely make again, thanks for the great recipe!

German Apple Pancake
Delicious! I didn't let the batter stand long enough and I think my oven was broken because I had to cook this a lot longer than the recipe called for. I think next time, brown sugar and more apples!

Lentil Soup
Wow. This is the best lentil soup recipe I've ever tried! I had to make a couple of substitutions based on my kitchen's content (red onion, white balsamic vinegar of which I added 2 xtra T!) but that was it! This is a terrific starter recipe and I'm excited to see how creative I can be with this. Next time I might try adding some different root veggies. This is a winner without cheese added to it!
