I'm a single mother of 4, with two adorable granddaughters. My favorite time of the week is when the kids all come for Sunday dinner. My children love my cooking and I get great pleasure out of that. My next favorite thing is when my daughters make my recipes for their families. I love the comfort foods I grew up with--fried chicken, roasts, lasagna, fresh garden vegetables, pound cake from scratch--that sorta thing. The reason I love this website so much is because I can find wonderful family recipes from other good cooks that call for regular ingredients that I have on hand. We still have all the family together on Sundays for dinner. Also, birthdays for the special person means they can choose any of their favorite meals and Mom will prepare it for them. They'd rather have a family meal at Mom's than go to a restaurant. My greatest personal triumph is in teaching my daughters to cook like I to instill within them the love of cooking and the satisfaction of preparing a meal with each separate dish ready to go on the table at the same time!! I had many missteps and ruined dishes when I was a new cook and learning on my own. I haven't had any tragedies in a long, long time.
