While this is not my first blog, it is certainly my first "foodie" blog, and, since this is my first year as a vegan, I thought it was a great way to share the journey.

I'm not militant. Let me just get that out of the way. I'm not going to convert anyone, I'm not going to call your burger "murder on a bun", and if you want to wear a dolphin skin suit... I may AVOID you but I can't make choices for you.

It's all about the food.

For me it is no bloating, no digestive problems, more energy, better skin and hair, bright eyes, and an unparalleled JOY in what I can create because I took the time to learn much much more about what is out there to EAT. Oh I love to eat and it kind of a little shows (though not as much as it used to. Fringe benefit of becoming a vegan; the weight started to pour off and I still wasn't starving.). Vegan food is prettier, smells better, has the GREATEST assortment of flavours, and textures!

And it takes something in the order of  sixteen pounds of grain and 5,214 gallons of water to produce ONE pound of beef (according to Wiki-answers). With all the starving folks in the world and a limited amount of arable and farmable land... you do the math.

So today as I sit here, the tantalizing odour of my famous four bean vegan chili lacing the air with the spicy goodness that smells PRECISELY like the carnivore version... and the fudgie vegan brownies add an earthy and chocolaty note of their own, I thought I would start a blog and share with everyone my journey, my triumphs, my "ewwwwwww" discoveries, and of course, PICTURES because I photograph EVERYTHING I cook!
Everyone needs a first recipe that hooks them... makes them say... "OH... oh WOW! This is AWESOME! Vegan isn't so bad!" For me it's this chili. A baked potatoe, a pile of chili, a daub of my favourite vegan knock-off of sour cream, my rice shreds (rice CHEESE my friends!! CHEESE! Vegans everywhere SWOON to the delight of this stuff!), and some extra hot sauce... stuff of life.

'Scuse me... I think I hear the dinner bell... I'll share more with everyone later. Supper calls!

Sounds like you'll have an interesting blog! Can't wait to read it. I'm not vegan or vegitarian, but sometimes I think of turning so, just because I HATE preparing meat. Haha!

I cook very little meat, mostly because of the $$ issue, & DH is OK w/that although when we do eat out, he usually goes for the red meat, but sometimes he surprises me-he had salmon at a Mex. restaraunt last time. Hope you can fulfill your dream at some point.

About Me
I'm 42 years young... trust me I know what I'm talking about LOL. I adore cooking and if I had the time, money, and opportunity I'd go to school, become a chef, and open my own vegan restaurant.
My favorite things to cook
Hmmmm... anything really. I prefer vegan recipes but I WILL cook all sorts of things because I live in a mixed household.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We don't have any. I cook, they eat.
My cooking triumphs
A four bean vegan chili and vegan white bread that makes people stop chewing and mutter "OHMAGAWD" before chewing faster LOL.
My cooking tragedies
Cheesecake and don't ask *laughing*
