Hi people.  This is my first blog and one that has been coming to life in my head for some time.  It has been developing and fermenting and is now spilling out and I am compelled to rid my brain of this fledgling blog so that I can give room to the birth of new ideas and possibly… MORE

About this Cook
I love to cook but not just for me. I love to have friends and family over for meals. So much fun to watch people eat and enjoy the food you have made. I love to look at the daily pictures and read the daily reviews from this site. Great to see what people are making and a great way to find good recipes. I print the ones that sound good and put them in my "Recipes to make" folder. Trouble is the folder gets bigger faster than I get the chance to make them. The picture is my adorable little tri-colored Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Roxie. She is 5 yrs. old but still just as cute. My son is all grown up so this is like my 2nd child. My only problem with her is trying to keep my TV screens clean of nose prints from her attacking any and all animals that appear on the screen. She has memorized sounds from commercials and comes running from wherever she may be for the ones she knows have animals in them. Craziest thing I have ever seen.
My favorite things to cook
BBQ'ing is my favorite, especially enjoy grilling seafood. Only trouble is, I live in Western Washington so the BBQ season is limited to about 4, maybe 5 months out of the year - I'm a fair weather bbq person, I do like it to be at least 65 degrees out. I really enjoy cooking most types of food and like to try to make recipes a bit more healthy when I can without compromising the flavor.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking for my family on holidays. Always Prime Rib on Christmas day and a buffet type help yourself meal on Christmas Eve and of course turkey on Thanksgiving.
My cooking triumphs
I'm not a good baker - I just don't enjoy it as much so I suppose that's why when I bake something that actually turns out well I consider it a triumph. Baking is just so precise. Take baking out of the equation and I consider myself an excellent cook with many triumphs.
My cooking tragedies
Most of my baking adventures I would consider to be clumsy attempts and while maybe not tragedies.......just never masterpieces. My family and friends are all wonderful and lie to me about the desirability of my baked items, but I know............

Beef Barbecue Biscuits
I used ground turkey, less brown sugar and some very good quality bbq sauce. They turned out very tasty and were fun to make. Thanks for the recipe!

Mongolian Beef and Spring Onions
Pretty yummy stuff. We enjoyed this over some steamed rice. I have always thought of mongolian beef as a spicy dish so I added some pepper flakes and that really did the trick. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I will make is again for sure.
