Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
The final product was delicious. This recipe was used as a guideline with the following changes: 1. Water was substituted with beef broth. 2. I used 1/2 bottle Italian dressing. 3. All of the other seasonings and spices were substituted with about 2 tbsps of grilling salt combo. The remaining liquid was used to make a gravy that was poured over the shredded beef on a crispy french bread, sourdough sandwich. Everyone in my family was impressed with this and would like for me to prepare it again.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 22, 2009
Excellent, absolutely delicious recipe! I followed a reviewer's advice about increasing the amount of cream cheese to 8 oz., and it was perfect. The second time I made these rolls, I reduced the frosting's sugar to just one cup. Also, I decided to add about a tablespoon of vanilla to the wet ingredients of the dough. This is definitely a family favorite and shall be made on a regular basis. In 2009 I started using Neufchatel cheese instead of cream cheese, which made the frosting easier to spread; and my family seemed to like it better.

Intensely Pumpkin Ravioli

Reviewed: May 22, 2009
This recipe has been repeatedly used for making pasta dough (I have yet to make the ravioli, though.). With just a little bit more flour added to the recipe, my bread machine did all of the work in preparing this dough. Then, I prepared it using my Kitchen aid pasta attachments to create fettucini. Thank you so much for submitting such a great recipe. I'll be sure to make it into ravioli in the future as well.

Baked Cherry Tomatoes with Garlic

Reviewed: May 22, 2009
I used only 1-tbsp. of olive oil and did not use any salt. The recipe was well-written, the item tasted great, and it had a great presentation. This has become a low-fat, family favorite and is very easy to prepare and set out when friends visit, too.

Homemade Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: May 22, 2009
I strongly recommend following the Editor's note by allowing these bars to cure for a day. Initially I doubted the taste of these bars; but, after waiting another 24 + hours, rave reviews from family and friends, a 2nd taste test by me as well as a 3rd taste test comparing them to high-end commercial granola bars, I came to the conclusion that I never want to buy granola bars again. These bars were a vast improvement in taste, texture, and ingredients. I greatly enjoyed the flexibility of the recipe as well, because I included flax seed, honey, peanuts, dried cranberries, wheat germ, and crispy rice cereal. Thank you for submitting this great recipe.

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: May 7, 2009
Wonderful and easy, too! Thank you for the advice on the reviews that recommended adding more flour, it made the texture of the dough turn out perfectly. I also added fresh, finely chopped herbs and replaced the butter with olive oil. The dough was rolled out to the size of a pizza stone, topped, and baked on the barbecue. I've made this several times with rave reviews.

While the recipe delivered a very tender and flavorful product, the orange marmalade was still overwhelmed by the Bulls-Eye barbecue sauce.

Phyllo-wrapped Halibut Fillets with Lemon Scallion Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2007
A powerhouse of a recipe...and I even prepared it with salmon instead of halibut plus added about 1/8 cup of fresh, coarsely chopped dill per fillet. The intensity of the lemon flavor in the sauce was a bit much but can easily be adjusted with more cream.

An excellent and easy-to-make recipe. I added sesame seeds, let the salmon marinate longer than required, and grilled it instead of baking it...making for an absolutely delicious main course.

Fantastic!--I increased the amount of garlic, coarsely chopped it (versus mincing it) and let the shrimp marinate in it for a little while before grilling.

Garam Masala Seared Salmon with Coconut-Curry Butter

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2006
The coconut flavor was too subtle to require the purchase of a whole can of coconut milk only to use a portion of it. I replaced the coconut milk with an equal amount of additional creme; and, the result was actually a much better sauce. Additionally, I increased the amount of Garam Masala used for dusting the Salmon Filets; next time I'll add a little bit of flour to make a crust on them. This recipe is an excellent one and has become a family favorite.
