About this Cook
Mom to a stupendous baby girl- gaining some new cooking experiences making baby food! Love living in Maine- lots of great places to explore. Vegetarian for past 10 years, love spicy food!
My favorite things to cook
vegetarian fare of all sorts- ethnic: Indian, Mexican, Mediterranean also Lasagne, imitation meatloaf, pasta dishes, tempeh, Quorn "Chicken" patties
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom's spaghetti sauce and french bread
My cooking triumphs
Finally learning how to get a whole meal onto the table at about the same time (entree and side dishes). It took me forever to get that timing right!
My cooking tragedies
Pretty much weekly burning of the bottom of baked goods- our oven is old and very finicky. Haven't quite figured out how to prevent the consistent buring of the bottoms of all cookies/cakes/breads I put in there. We just slice of the burned parts and eat the rest!

Red Lentil Curry
Great recipe! I didn't have curry paste so I just added some extra curry powder and a little water to make the curry base a little more like a paste than a powder. Served with some brown rice.

Whipped Cream
Just like my mom used to make :) Hard to think about ever using the canned/tubbed stuff after being reminded how good real whipped cream is!

Andrea's Pasta Fagioli
Delicious! I used just what pasta I had on hand- probably about a cup- and that was plenty. I threw in a rind of parmesean.
