About this Cook
I am a 6th grade social studies teacher, and my husband is a chemist. We love spending time together watching movies, ice skating, and just goofing off. We are also very active in our church!
My favorite things to cook
Asian foods of all kinds; beef tips and rice; cakes; pies
My favorite family cooking traditions
Biscuits and gravy on Christmas morning; pot luck Thanksgivings; grilled London Broil and boneless pork ribs; German Chocolate cake for birthdays
My cooking triumphs
I made a cheese cake from scratch with out a recipe and it was amazing. Now, I make up recipes all the time - I just typically forget to write them down!
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at cheese biscuits and crab bisque was horrible. The biscue tastes like coffee creamer and the dog wouldn't even eat the biscuits; we ordered pizza that night.

Jamaican Beef Patties
We love this recipe! It is a little on the time consuming side and it makes a big mess in the kitchen. But it is totally worth it. We followed one reviewer's suggestion to use 3/4 cup cold butter rather than the shortening and margarine and 2/3 cup water in the dough. It did solve the dryness problem, but the dough was a bit too sticky. We will probably cut the butter back by 2 tbs and use 1/2 cup water next time. I also added red pepper instead of black pepper. This is definitely one of may favorite meals.

Easy Fried Spinach
I tried this recipe just as it is written the very first time. The second time, I didn't use the canola oil; I only used the butter. and I added red pepper and onion salt. It was GREAT!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast
This is the best pot roast recipe I have ever used. The gravy is excellent over brown rice.
