I've been married 10 years to a professional chef. Because I'm married to a chef, I almost never get to cook--which I really enjoy!! And I'm getting better every day . . . despite what my hubby thinks. :)
My favorite things to cook
I love making desserts. I have this upside down caramel-apple-cassarole that everyone always asks for on major holidays. I'm trying my hand on entrees and apps--much to the hubby's chagrin. But, in the mean time, I can mix a wicked cocktail and bake brownies until the cows come home.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother always cooked dinners that were different from the "other moms"--she never settled for the basic supper traditions. She would buy a different genre cookbook every few months and cook everything in it front cover to back cover--that's why my food tastes are so grand! What other 7 year old can say she had curry vindaloo for dinner last night?
My cooking triumphs
My apple caramel cassarole dessert and 30 (yes, that's right, I said 30) variations of brownies. And this wild Chinese vegetable-chicken-melon-citrus-wild rice stir fry I whipped up one night in a panic when my "Everybody Loves Raymond"-style mother in law said she was coming over for dinner.
My cooking tragedies
Most any entree I've ever tried without my husband's help. Yes, I'll admit it.
