About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook are things that I can do successfully and things that make fabulous leftovers so I can enjoy my hard work over and over again!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite cooking traditions are so varied: there is making Sekanice at Easter with grandma, or cooking on the 2 burner alcohol stove on my parents' boat during summer vacations when I was a kid.
My cooking triumphs
My cooking triumph was mastering 2 recipes my grandma traditionally made: one is old fashioned raisin filled cookies at Thanksgiving and Sekanice (Easter Meatloaf-a Bohemian tradition) for Easter. She's since passed away and its special to family to still have it "taste" like she was still here with us.

Beer Bread I
Really easy to make. Chewy texture. I added some melted butter and garlic salt to the top before baking to jazz it up a bit. I think other seasonings/topping would be fun to try too.

Quick Tuna Casserole
My mom made this recipe all the time when I was growing up. Its not the fanciest or most flavorful, but its good and quick and simple. And you can doctor it up any way you want. I actually made this a lot when I was in college-its got all your food groups in it, and that's pretty good for a college student in the dorms!
